You guys are the first to see the latest dagger at least the handle for the next ABS fund raiser. There were 5 of us new (2003) mastersmiths asked to collab on a dagger to be auctioned or raffled this year at the Blade Show.

Heather Harvey...make the damascus
Kevin Harvey.....grind, heat treat and finish blade
Bruce Bump.......make guard and pommel to fit handle
Sava Damlovac....handle with wire wrap
Michael Vagnino..throat and tip sheath

What do you think of it?

It's easy to see why they call you folks Mastersmiths. Fantastic, beautiful work. Thanks for sharing, wish I were going to be there!

I'll be there again
I think I'm going to just vist again.
I really liked the time doing that..

nice job all around :)

There's something really cool about a knife that contains the efforts of a diverse and talented group of makers such as yourselves. This dagger looks absolutely exceptional.

I bought a collaboration bowie at the 2003 blade show ABS dinner banquet auction, which had also been made by five Mastersmiths (picture and description HERE). It is one of the most prized pieces in my collection.

Man oh man, your making it real hard to get back in the shop and do something, that has to be the most depressing sight I've seen in a long time!:p How can mer mortals atain even a small part of such ability?

That looks like something I'd have to pic up and fondle for a while, breathtaking!

Beautiful, I can't wait to see that knife in person. This is going to be our first Blade show and I'm already itching to get there. Can't wait to see that great work and th egreat makers to match. Thanks for the peek Bruce, it's a beauty.

Thanks guys! Andrew the shell is made from one piece of mild steel and milled out for the cross guard and the shape was ground in and filed by hand using a three sided file. Lots of elbow grease and sanding and buffing. Whew!

Bruce:

Looks great!!! Of course I got the opportunity to see it first hand and all I can say is AWESOME!!

It turn out great folks. Bruce look like the gold thing worked real well. Would like to see that process in action next time I get get down your way. By the way, I reduced one of those bearings down to a pretty fair blank, sure makes me want a press bad. Great job to you and the rest of the crew. Terry
