Hi everyone!

I haven't been on here at all recently because I've been working away on this knife and now on the last of my five test knives.

I'll let the great pic from Caleb Royer Studios do most of the talking. Here are a few specs as well, the 14" blade is forged from 1080 and 15N20 in a very tight Radial Pattern. The handle is stabilized African Blackwood with nearly ten feet of twisted 18K gold wire inlay. The guard is sculpted and made from the same mosaic damascus pattern as the blade. There is also three strands of 18K wire in the from spacer. This is the biggest d-guard bowie I have made and the third largest knife total. I am using it as one of my MS Test Knives this year at Blade! I went to Arkansas last week with four of my finished test knives to have Master Ron Newton give me a critique. So I'm feeling good about the test so far. I am sure I'll be chewing my finger nails off when I get to Atlanta though.

Let me know what you think!

I also got to shoot a Ron Newton classic, it was a Shoot'n Newton #12 Flintlock gun/sword with a long blade a 50 cal muzzle loader. It was and is the coolest gun/knife/sword I have ever seen and it wasn't even done yet. You all should drop by Ron's table and have a look at the Blade show. I don't think he will let you shoot it there though.

Thanks for looking.

BEAUTIFUL work Kyle. Your skills continue to progress and this is another fine illustration!

Best of luck in your MS test.

Peter

Kyle,

Best of luck. From the pics these are some of the most beautiful test knives I have seen.

Smart move taking them to Ron for an extra pair of eyes.

Outstanding work as always. The gold on black theme is very classy and really makes the knife POP. Have fun in Atlanta because you sure don't need the luck.

Kyle,
This knife is up to your usual fantastic standard. Well done! I admire your nerve in submitting a D-guard. Not the most easily made style. I have no qualms as to your passing the test and wish you all the best. You've an exceptional ability and the patience & desire to accomplish whatever you want.

I look forward to seeing more your work first hand.

All my best,
Gary

Kyle,
That Bowie is smoking! Nice Job!
Looks like too much fun with that "Shootin Newton"!

Adam.

Looks great Kyle. I would say, "good luck" but you don't need that. All you need is some good deodorant and you'll get through it just fine :-)

Take care and I'll be looking for your dagger to knock mine off the hill for 2011/12. It's been a good year. Now the fun begins.

Exquisite!!! Your talent and hard work always shines through. Good luck in Atlanta,

Kevin

something like 'elegance, understated' comes to mind, (weird, because it's made up of such intensive work). Not the kind of knife to scream at you, more like one which becomes an old friend, sticking it out through thick and thin.
Ready, in fact, to cleave pirates should any attempt to board yer ship.

You and Mr Newton must have had lots of fun shooting the "sword-gun".
