Ms. Yangdu - the wishgranter!

So I've been drooling over the Uncle Bill Memorial Salyan's, particularly the white handled [antler] versions. I had lamented that due to having to get my wife to therapy and what not I've been getting home late and missing the DOTD threads.

On a whim, I e-mailed Ms. Yangdu just to see if she happened to have one in teh antler handle, which she said she didn't. I almost went for a horn handle, but Ms yangdu took pity on me and offered to order me an antler handle one.

A granted wish!

So I'm not usre how long a custom order like that will take, although to some point it really doesn't matter, as it will be just for me. These are just such beautiful knives, I almost can't believe one is going to be mine, and I just had to share.

I think when it comes in, this might truly be the one that gets a shadowbox made for it and displayed as the crown of my collection.

So I'd like to say thank you, thank you, THANKS YOU! to Ms. Yangdu for being so gracious.

Oh, and curses to the forum for infecting me with the virus, ha ha ha!

I'm not only infected - I'm a carrier! I've been showing mine off to all my friends and THEY have been ordering some!!! I can;t talk too much right now, but I will also say that I'm working on a very special project to REALLY get HI out there for everyone to see!

I can't honestly tell you how honored I am for her to do this for me. I know HI is really trying to bring some of thier regular stock back up, so for her to ask them to make one more of these special runs items for me really is truly an honor, and pleasure and a privledge. I'm very humbled that she is making such an exception for me.

I'm going to wrap my brain around the idea for a while, and try to think of something I can do for her in return. I'm not usre what, but I'll work on it.

I agree that the good Cpl has indeed remarked upon the way items mentioned in the forum have a way of appearing on DOTD, and for me more than once with an empty wallet and bank account.

But if two Berk Specials turn up, please, oh please, let it be when I'm financial. And considering how we have been getting around 28ounce YCS's again, could 30ounce Berk's and Tarwars have their chance of appearing too?

+1 on the lighter tarwars. I'm hoping a thinner bladed, smooth handled one comes along one of these days.

Agreed, I have an order in for a Berk at 30 oz if it can be done. Auntie advised that the Kami's who were familiar with the design were away at their farms for a time. Also requested a few weeks back that Tirtha get a few YCS to us and sure enough he does and I miss it. One other thing, Auntie said she would ask Tirtha to branch out into some of the larger blades such as a Giant Chitlangi Bowie so keep those eyes peeled.

Shop and Kamis will start on antler handle Salyan Knife as soon as they are done with back order Knives/Sowrd. With some luck we will see the Salyan knife within a month. Thank you for the kind words.
