Hello everyone, I am sorry for making a new thread for this stupid question but I really dont know how does lock work on this new model. Maybe you ll remember me, I m still torn between CRK Umnumzaan and MT DOC and just when I made a decision to buy Umnumzaan I saw this apocalyptic DOC Killswitch, yet I cant figure out what locking mechanism it has and will it be as strong and reliable as sub framelock on manual DOC flipper. Thanks.

The Umnumzaan is much nicer aesthetically and if I didn't have reservations about trashing a 400$+ knife I would buy one.

It is ironic that here in the Czech Republic the DOC Killswitch sells for more than the Umnumzaan but somehow I cannot decide. Heart says DOC manual or Killswitch and reason says Umnumzaan. I just wanna know more about the lock on the Killswitch version.

Flip a coin and be done with it. If you have been agonizing over this for a while then you need to make the deicison.

The DOC Killswitch has a two-position switch that pivots like the fire selector on an AR-15 pattern rifle. When the selector points towards the white dot, the knife is set to "fire" and depressing the switch fires the knife. As with all pushbutton automatics, it will not be as strong as a frame lock model.

But when the knife has been fired, it is being locked by button lock type of mechanism?

Most "button" firing knives use the button itself as a lock, yes. Look at the Protech TR-4 and other models, same as the Benchmade Auto Stryker, and Spyderco Citadel/Embassy knives as good examples.

One is called a Killswitch. If for no other reason I would get the other:p

CRK is also the better manufacturer if that means anything to you.

If it's anything like the SF model it's a liner/subframe type lock, which works great

CRK's reputation is better than MT's, and I personally think the name DOC (death on contact) killswitch is silly.

And I though Killswitch was bad on its own !
Had no idea that DOC stood for "death on contact".
Who in the world would buy a knife named "Death on Contact Killswitch "

Mall ninja like myself.

Definitely go with the Death on Contact Killswitch then !

CRK doesn't sell to mall ninja's anyway:p
I'm just kidding around.
Good luck with making your decision, and hope you like whichever one you decide to go with:thumbup:

Don't see the ugly myself but what can you expect.

I love my DOC and my sebenza, carry them both regularly. Both my Sebenza and DOC lockup at about 70% like a bank vault. Even though they are both frame locks you really need to get them in hand to see which one you like more, but who are you kidding you are going to get them both eventually or why else would you be a bladefourms member lol.
