It's been a little while since I posted a trip but I assure you I have kept busy! I hope everyone had a good Easter. Yesterday Sonya and I Climbed Mt. Ellen, one of Vermont's 4,000+ footers. Just under 10 miles round trip, Lot's of snow, windy, and cold, which meant a great day! Thought I would share a few pics. Especially for those of you who are always jealous of the pristine public cabins we have here.

Very typical this time of year up here, the start of the trail winds through lot's of sugaring lines.

Gaining elevation and getting colder.

The trail became pretty nasty for a while.

~3 miles in, the glenn-ellen lodge. One of many public cabins on the long trail. I didn't stay this time but this one is really nice.

Looks like a beautiful way to spend Easter Sunday.I am particularly impressed with your culinary selection. PB&J w/bourbon. Outstanding!

Haha thanks! Actually on most occasions I'm pretty anal about bringing good food, I actually don't really care for PB&J but I was rushed and needed all the daylight I could get to make it back in time so I threw the PB&J together on a minutes notice.

Beautiful photos man, nice views from up there! Wow what a contrast between there and here, yesterday I was checking out all of the flowers blooming on the poison oak, poison ivy, and several others...and our green canopy is back.

Thanks for posting the snow pic's. I got sun burnt here in Texas today. Looks like you ans Sonya had a good hike.

I really enjoy pictures of the mountains, even with snow and ice, and those with your dog make me grin every time.Meanwhile, I am guessing that 'sugaring lines' have something to do with maple sugar, but what do the lines do? Mark territory?

Yup maple sugaring lines. The lines actually collect the sap and are tapped into the trees. They are hooked up to a vacuum system and all the running sap is pulled from the lines and collected in a tank.

Nice pics . We didn't really have a winter this year so really enjoyed these pics . Looks like a great time .
