Which model Halo do you guys consider to be the best model as far as dependability, and style??

For use? I'll be honest with you, I've never found any of them actually useful for carry, especially the laughably huge HALO V. To me the HALOs have always been more for show and tell than use. They are cool to look at and fire for sure. If I had to use something as a last ditch weapon, I wouldn't mind having one, but for EDC I would recommend a good solid folder or a small fixed blade.

If you are dead set on owning one for use then I would recommend trying to find a plain edge HALO III.

Well, iirc, Jack Bauer uses a Halo III on 24. If you're in the terrorist-defeating business, that might be a good option for you.

LOL Thanks guys, i just see how much they sell for and how fast, so i figured there must be something special about them. As far as my EDC goes, your right you cant beat a folder. Mines a CRK Umnum, great knife. Im just really into the OTF's, and see these HALO's fly off the site when they go up for sale. Thanks for the info!!

Alot of Microtech collectors are not users. They get snapped up quickly because they are usually going into a collection to sit and never be used. If you want a good OTF that you can use my first recommendation would be a Scarab. I EDC'd one at work for about 6 months and it never gave me any problems and was always reliable. If you don't want to spend the coin on a Scarab the Ultratechs are perfectly fine for light to medium duty EDC use.

With a D/A knife you can carry it in your pocket without fear of it firing. If it does somehow magically fire in your pocket the blade will derail and not cause any serious damage. With a S/A knife you only have a lock in the way of a spring that constantly wants to push the blade forward. That's why pocket carry of a HALO is a no, no. If that thing fires in your pocket there's no derail. The blade just wants to fire. It probably wouldn't open fully, but I could imagine it causing some damage if that button was pressed in your pocket. That's why they always come with a sheath.

Nothing wrong with an OTF. Alot of guys call them a gimmick, but I put my Scarab through the wringer on a construction job for 8 months and it's still going strong.

Well i had carried a Ultratech DE for a while, i broke the blade on it, sent it in and had it fixed, now the spring inside broke. I hate to send it in cause last time it took 3 months to get my knife back. So thats why i was wondering bout the halos, plus the style of the halo is really awesome. I might look into one of the scarabs though. Especially if they are as tough as you say. Thanks again!!
