MT LCC: Anyone else have this problem?

I know it's not exactly a brand new knife, but I recently acquired an excellent MT LCC D/A in a trade. Now that I have it I can't imagine wanting another production knife in its size/price range. For instance, I've got a Spyderco Chinook on its way back from warrantee repair/replacement, and I have very little interest in even seeing what they did to fix it.

The LCC is just constructed so well, and the blade geometry is incredibly useful. I even like the black coating on this knife--very tough--and I generally hate coatings. In fact, I just ordered a second LCC, this time in manual with S30V. Anyone else had problems with an LCC multiplying like this?

the LCC is a great knife but I've traded both that I've owned for something a little smaller though, I did trade one for a scott cook owyhee.
the knives were just too big for me but,I miss not keeping at least one of them.
you never know when you might need a knife built like a tank.

Yep, it is the only production knife I have 2 of the same style...got 2 Striders but different style. It does exude quality, would never pound with it but sure it would take the abuse. Very sheeple friendly as well...

I know exactly what you mean. I have 3 lcc's and every chance i get to trade for another one i take it. It is absolutaly my favorite knife ever made :D

I just got my first LCC M/A this week, and though I have to admit that it wasn't love at first sight, it is growing on me. The solidity of the knife just inspires confidence (in the tool, that is -- I'm not using the knife as an excuse to swagger). Probably the reason I'm not raving right now is that I had to "settle" for OD green micarta scales rather than the carbon fiber that I'd really wanted. (Anyone know where I can get the CF scales?)

Gimme a week, and I'm sure I'll be a #1 fan.

Yep, I just picked up my second LCC, and the LCC was my first EDC knife! It's just a very handy knife that I use for all my serious tasks.

I am thinking of swapping the blade of my new S90V D/A with the 154cm blade in my manual, or at least trying it because while I like the D/A, I don't need any potential legal issues slapping me in the face. I am not sure if they made a manual version of the S90V one though...and if they did, it'd be hard to find someone to make a trade with.

Lots of cool factor and very handy. I especially like the thumb cutout for lockbar access, makes closing very easy and doesn't gouge at the thumb like some liner locks do.

There must be a group out there called 'Lightfoots' Anonymous'? My Micro-Techs multiplied 10x all by themselves & then I called Greg... all of a sudden the custom knives started showing up. It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it, right? :D

I went from 0 to 4 LCCs in less than 3 weeks. It also began my collections focus on Microtechs. The LCC is still my favorite with the Terzuola coming in at close second

That is definitely a big can of worms, though. Time to start my Weiland Wish List....

Not to get off topic, but that frame-lock Commander on Reese's site might just make me change my EDC. Until I get the LCC back, that is.

Arcanum,

2thehilt.com seems to have a pretty good selection. Phil there helped hook me up with one that wasn't listed on the web site. You might check them out for the carbon fiber scale version.

Oh, I do have one complaint about the LCC but it's very minor.

The screws are very soft and several of them have stripped easily for me, even with the loctite loosened effectively. I would really like to find some replacement screws out of hardened steel or something. I can always sandblast screws but I don't like trying to dig out stripped torx heads (one of my clip screws stripped enough that I used a pick to shape it into a larger hex screw!)

My Microtech journey started with a Mini-Socom years ago and then I finally snagged a used LCC. I was seriously impressed with the quality of this company's knives. I just had to get an Amphibian and finally got a used one from another forumite although it is CE which isn't my favorite blade style. Again, a finely crafted knife. I keep my eye on the trade and sale forums for other Microtech knives in hopes that I will be able to snag another. To me these knives are crafted like fine jewelry with attention to fit and finish. I had a problem with the Mini some years ago. After putting it up for a while, the blade just wouldn't open no matter what I did. I took it apart and cleaned the knife but when I put it back togehter it just wasn't right. Called the company, admitted what I had done and the nice guy said that he didn't hear that I took it apart but send it in for service. Got it back in perfect shape, resharpened and at no cost to me. Nice people and great customer service.

Phil is a great guy! He has hooked me up with hard to find items a few times. If I was looking for something and it seemed to be pretty rare, I'd ask Phil first.

IMO. . .the MT LCC is one of the most addictive high-end production knives on the market ! I think that the reason was. . .besides it being a superb knife. . .MT offered so many variations ! What a marketing strategy !

At one time I had 10 (maybe 11. . .or was it 13) :D . . .all D/A's (except 2 manuals).

I've pared back the gathering to 3. . .an EDC and 2 very special sterile models.

Never a single problem.

Built like a damn tank ! :D

Yup I have an M/A combo edge in 154CM with CF handles which will soon be multiplying in the same thing but with S30V I hope.

By far I consider the LCC the best production knife made today. The fit, finish, and overall quality are amazing! I would recommend it to anyone. I have one of the older 154CM models with the CF scales. Lock up is still rock solid with no blade play whatsoever and sharpens up scary sharp with no problems.

Since its already sounding like a AA meeting, here is my story.

I eyed the LCC at a gun show when it first hit the market. She was a D/A model in stonewash and carbon fiber. The sexiest thing I had ever laid eyes on. From then on she was all I could think of. The thing was that I am just a low life nobody with only a nickle to my name so my empty pocket would never fancy her.

So the years went by and I had infactuations with some other sexy OTF models but in my heart it was always with Mt. LCC D/A. Then one day came Mt. Ultratech. It was love all over again but the bank was still broke. I could only dream of the fun me could have.

Then out of nowhere comes Mt. Makora. She was a real skull crusher. Since the law would not permit Mt. LCC D/A to be with me at all times, I'd figured that I can hock the car and secretly keep Mt. Makora in the house. There she can be safe under the watchful eye of my big Mistress Busse. With the rest of the money from the car, I gave her a cosmetic make over. She was polished from head to toe and had pearls (well mother of pearl) inlaid onto her.

Next year I think I'll hock the motorcycle and try to win Mt. LCC's heart by getting her a papua abalone outfit.
