Ok... ive seen some versions of the LCC in different stores. some with damascus.. others automatic. id like to get the most basic model they make with just a regular (non beadblast) blade... does anyone know if they make a basic version without bead blast? and how much will it cost...? i know this knife is popular here, but i know very little about it... thanks

There are alot of LCC variations floating around...I thnk the newest ones will no longer have Ti bolsters, as MT is switching to Aluminum.

Mine has Ti bolsters, and bead blast finish. I dont think MT ever made a satin finished LCC.

MT has three basic finishes. Bead blasted, Stone washed and Black T/Ceramic coated (the originals were Black T and MT has since moved to a Black Ceramic coating that offers like ten times the wear resistance of the Black T)

There have been a handfull of custom Satin and High Polish LCCs made, as well as a limited production Damascus run (there is a small run of 20 Damascus LCC DAs that will be made soom for Chief's Cutlery).

Patrick at Triple Aught Design offers a large variety of LCCs, as does John from Chief's Cutlery and Karl from SOF Knives.

I've purchased from all three of these Gentleman and would not hesitate to buy from them again in the future.

Well, in direct answer to your question, meta, the most basic LCC is the Manual Action, stonewash blade. The stonewash is MT's take on a satin finish. Instead of hte scratches all being in the same direction, as with most satin finishes, the stonewash finish puts the scratches in random directions, so new scratches don't show up as much. I like it a lot.

If you're interested in a black blade, I have one for sale ( http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/014085.html ). It's second generation, so it has the Ti bolsters, and is cheaper than the newer ones, even though they have Aluminum.
