Hello everybody
My little brother is going to thailand this summer. He will be there for 1 month maybe a bit longer. I want to give him a MT or SAK. Considering he's not into knives at all(so he might abuse and don't take best care of the tool inquestion), weather, length of the trip and all the differents taks he will do with this tool, what should i give him. If you can specify the model it would give me a hand.

Here is a few points to consider:

Weight
rust resistance
versatility
edge retaintion (he wont sharpen it...)

For the budget i can go around 80-100$

Thank you for your help.

By MT, I'm assuming you mean Multi-tool? Sometimes that can be mistaken for Microtech.

While I love SAKs, I really love my Leatherman Wave Original. All stainless steel, and they hold up pretty well. Although the jaws on the pliers can't cut anything really hard, the plain edge, serrated edge, file, and saw blade all are fantastic. I've carried mine for 4 years now (longer, if I hadn't lost the previous one) and I can attest to their ability to hold up. You can't go wrong with a Swiss Spirit either

The drawback is that the preferred method of carry is via a sheath on a beltloop. Otherwise they are cumbersome in the pockets. If this isn't an option, then go for a Victorinox Hiker. I prefer the philips over the corkscrew, and it has a sawblade, which is nice. If you want to add scissors, you've got the Huntsman, another essential pocket knife that many on this forum own.

Okay Here's Some Multi-Tool Ideas:
Leatherman Freestyle CX
Leatherman Skeletool CX
Leatherman Juice XE6 - Lots Of Tools And A Great Compact Size... And It's A Leatherman.

As For A Swiss Army Knife... You Can't Go Wrong With A Swiss Army Knife... I Love Them And EDC One EVERY DAY.

Here's A Few That Would Do Well For The Trip:
Huntsman
Fieldmaster
Explorer
Deluxe Tinker
Champion Plus
Farmer
Swiss Champ
Hunter XT
But Really I Would Go The Deluxe Tinker...

The Deluxe Tinker Comes With Anything He Could Ever Need While Still Being A Comfortable Pretty Light Weight Pocketable Size. And That's What I Would Go With As I Think A Swiss Army Knife Is Your Best Option Here.
The Tools Are As Follows:
1.) Large Blade
2.) Small Blade
3.) Phillips Screwdriver
4.) Can Opener With:
5.) Small Screwdriver
6.) Bottle Opener With:
7.) Large Screwdriver
8.) Wire Stripper
9.) Reamer
10.) Key Ring
11.) Toothpick
12.) Tweezers
13.) Scissors
14.) Multi-Purpose Hook
15.) Pliers With:
16.) Wire Cutter
17.) Wire Crimper

And It Sells For $30 - $40. It's The Perfect Thing. That's What I Would Go With.

And If He Really Needs A Saw.. He Can Carry A Vic. Hunter XT As His Main Locking Pocket Knife. That Comes With:
Plain Edge OHO Locking Blade.
OHO Rescue Blade.
Saw.
Phillips Screwdriver.
And That Nifty Little Key Ring.
