Hi all, I was just wondering what you would recommend as a replacment for my socom-elite auto, i have had it for 2 years and carried it every day used at least twice a day on average, while there is nothing wrong with it i would like a new look.. auto preferred, the only other true folder i have owned is a sebenza which i sold. Thanks for the help, BTW i use the knife for alot of fishing and camping, hunting, so it will ger plenty of abuse :)

Your Elite is a large knife, 4.05" blade. The only other side opener auto's that big would be a few of the Daltons. If you don't mind down sizing a little, you could look at the LCC D/A, an awesome knife with a 3.625" blade available is S30V. There is also the UMS, 3.42" and the mini socom, 3.40". One of my favorite side opener auto's is the Woodard Fer de Lance. Great handle ergonomics, 3.375" blade with a strong snap.
Of course there are the OTF's, but for what you plan to use it for, I would stay with a side opener. Let us know what you end up with.

I was thinking of the mini but was worried about the snap, my friend has a vector and being as small as it is doesnt make it click to well IMO. plus it is a slower opener, was just wondering if the mini has this problem or is the blade and spring heavy enough for a strong lock, not that the vecotr has not locked properly but just doesnt feel as asuring. thanks :)

Stick with what works for you. Get another MT! The Amphibian, Scarab, Makora, Terzola or UT6 would be great for ya!!

The mini elite is great and is my current EDC. It rides nice in the pocket with the clip and has a good snap when opening. It is a little bigger than the Vector and fits in the hand better, but has a lighter, and longer blade. I got the satin finish blade. Can be had for $120.00

You might try a BM, like maybe the new 5000 axis lock auto. They have several nice autos available, and their CS is second to none.
