Any thoughts on them? A member proposed trading one to me and I would like a litte information about them? Quality, Value, etc.

I received my first just last week through a trade. It is in my pocket right now. Great little users and are my favorite folder for the buck. Functional and they also have the gadget factor in spades. Even though they are autos, people really look at them as being cute. Definitely not the same reaction as when they would see a SOCOM D/A or even a LCC D/A. They are a rather small knife and would not be my first choice for extended periods of medium to heavy use. Where they excel is being a small, light duty pocket knife. They take a good edge and seem to hold it reasonably well (mine lost the factory edge in a week of moderate use for whatever it's worth). Smooth, solid and quick. What more do you need?

The only fault I could give you is the size. Check the specs before buying, you may want something a bit larger.

If that is the case, may I suggest you take a look at the new larger version that hit the street a few weeks ago, the LUDT2001. Same knife basically in a larger, more usable size.

As to their quality, your going to be hard pressed to find higher quality standards then Microtech.

To give you an idea of the sizes, here is a picture of some bodies. On the left is the LUDT size (a fancy one ta boot) and the "UDT" is in the middle.

Microtech UDTs are great knives.
Everyone should own at least one.
The only question is which size.
The new UDT and L-UDT do not have the rubber inlay.

I've had one for two or three months or so now, and absolutely love it! it's got a large enough blade to take care of most any day to day cutting, it's got a hellacious power to weight ratio, it takes a razors edge, it's the quickest drawing knive I've ever owned (outside of maybe an Emerson Commander I wasn't otherwise impressed with) and it's small and "cute" enough that it doesn't get any negative attention from people, even when they realize it's an auto. Overall, I think it's got the best "bang for buck" value of any knife I've owned. well, except for that $12 Swiss Tinker I got as a gift ten years or so ago and still use regularly. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with one. Soon as I can save enough clamshells I'm hoping to get an L-UDT to keep it company at night. I figure if I'm really lucky They'll multiply in my knife drawer while I'm away! Even If they don't I may still try that excuse with my wife! (really hon, they multiplied themselves, that oily stuff by the Pivots isn't just machine oil ya' know) Hope my perception has been of some use to you!

I also just got a UDT the small one with a plain edge and Black Ti coating

awesome knife i ordered it only days after recieving my MT Socom Elite Tanto 2-tone.

I am extremely impressed with the quality of both these knives, MT is amazing

I wish they would make a UDT with a tanto-type blade shape, that would be sweet.

Hello Geoff,

If your UDT has a black blade, it's the middle size (M-UDT or UDT 2000).

MT did not make a black blade small.

I've been using my UDT for 6 months. It's a perfect little knife for me. It rides comfortably in my left inner sute pocket. I have to wear a suit at work (at least a jacket), so my knife has to be: light weight,
slim, not too big (the last thing I would like to do is to scary someone in my office) but also good quality, strong and easy to deploy. And you can open UDT with a nice "snap" but you can also slow the action down with your finger and open it VERY silently.
Just a great daily utility knife! And a good thing is that autos are legal in Poland
