hey folks...
i'm new onto the multi tool bandwagon, forgive me.
I'm looking for one under $50 (at least in that neighborhood). I think i'd prefer if it were a little more knife-centric. and, i think i'd prefer it to have a caribineer or a lanyard hole or a way to hook it to a belt loop as i don't usually wear a belt. Or, a pocket clip would be awesome too.
thanks Friends.

I don't know about hanging it off a belt loop, but a Sog Powerlock can be had for $59.00 at a local mega-home supply store, It is a little on the heavy side but has some nice features on it.

one of the best values is the Leatherman "Kick, Fuse, Blast" line, all in your price range. Leatherman quality and some nice, full MT plier head designs.

of course you can get many generic clones out there, no-name MTs that might be okay, could do the job but it's a gamble.

extras like carabiners add to the cost.

Hi,

You might want to look at the Leatherman Skeletool. Price is about what you want to pay and it has a pocket clip and a carabiner.

If you want to know more, send me a personal message.

Best - Joe

+1 on the skeletool cx, about $45 on amazon, has better blade steel and a carabiner. I'd also take a look at the swisstools on amazon. There's full size swisstools and the smaller swisstool spirits (maybe small enough for a pocket w/o sheath) for around $55 shipped, they're great quality, IMO higher quality than other brands including leatherman, but seem to be cheaper on average.

I think i'd prefer if it were a little more knife-centric.

In case you also want pliers, I suggest taking a look at the options provided by the others. Otherwise I suggest taking a look at Swiss Army Knives (SAK), which are basically pocket knives with other functions added (scissors, saw, can opener, etc.). A lot of SAK models are far below $50.

Sounds like you are after a Skeletool, or if you want something really different a CRKT Guppie.

I have a Blast in my hunting pack which I like very much. Right at ~$50. Not necessarily what I would consider "knife centered" though. -DT
