MT12P Mule Team 12 Cru-Wear [re-released]

Hey thanks for the heads up, got 2 ordered again, expecting some that are close to perfection this time.

Thanks. I've been checking the store site every day for the last couple of weeks, got mine ordered this evening.

Got mine. I'm surprised the MT09- Mule Team Takefu Cobalt Special is still available too.

2 are on the way to me. Last time I was at the SFO they still had the Cobalt Special in stock, so I had to get one of those too.

Why does it's description say "and is the first tool steel offering in Spyderco's Mule Team Series."

Isn't CPM m4 a tool steel?

So, without sounding like too much of a newbie I was just curious what you guys do with the Mule Team knives? Do you collect them, evaluate the steel, use it as a fixed blade, or maybe all of the above.

I collect and use but I only have a M390 (3) and Cru-Wear (2) on the way. Perfect size for an EDC fixed blade!

I've been buying them since the beginning, 2 of each. One gets cord-wrapped and used at work (i.e. flogged like a rented mule), the other is in reserve, waiting on good scales to become a nice knife for less abusive use.

I must say, this rerelease of the Cruware is already holding up better than my first one.

The High speed steels are a classification all their own. The M, as in M2, M4, M42, etc means molybdenum, though they can and do have other elements obviously ( Tungsten, Vanadium, etc.)

Here is a breakdown of steels, though not the only classification system by any means.

This has some steels with their names in other classification systems:http://www.westyorkssteel.com/tool_steel_specifications.html
