Im on a tight budget and most of the cheap yet desirable looking knives are either Mtech or Master Cutlery.
Im new to buying knives ( Ive always loved them, just not started acquiring them til now).
Are they good quality? what should I avoid? any suggestions for better brands that are still rather cheap? (<30$ or so)
Also, any tips to a newbie knive buyer?
Thanks!

I had a master when I was young. Thought it was the coolest thing ever. Spearpoint blade and aluminum handles. I still have it and look at it now and think what POS. thin thin thin liner lock. doesn't hold an edge for crap. Wobbles every which way. My opinion: do yourself a favor and get a Chinese made kershaw. Or spyderco tenacious. Kershaws can be had for 20-25 and are very good users. The spyderco tenacious is about 30 and very solid.

I'll second hutchsaiga and will add the Ontario RAT 1 and the Cold Steel Pocket Bushman. These folders, as well as the inexpensive but excellent Spyderco's and Kershaws mentionded are within everyone's budget and they are all very good, functional and goodlooking knives.

A cheap knife can cost you way more than an expensive knife when the lock fails on you and you have go to the hospital to get stitches. There's plenty of Bucks, Kershaws, a few Spydercos, and Byrds (Spyderco's budget line) that can be had for under or around $30. Plus they'll have a lifetime warranty, unlike an MTech, Maxam, or Master...or any knife with no discernible brand.

I absolutely agree with the gentleman above! Wuggle, the knives you listed are crap. Buck, Byrd, Kershaw and Spyderco (Tenacious et al) are your friends. Don't know anything about the ones Singularity posted though.
