Just got my Mtech Karambit today, and I am suitably impressed. The fit and finish are excellent; the only place that cost-cutting is visible is in the choice of materials. Even then, the blade is some 440 variant, so it's not horrible.

Best of all, I paid only $9.95 for the knife, less than $15.00 with shipping. I got it from the Ebay store Blades n More here EDITED Shipping was a tad slow, but heck, for that price, can't expect everything. They have a whole bunch of Mtech knives, some I've never heard of.

I normally don't like cheap knives but at this price/quality ratio, I'll buy more to play with or just give to friends.

Just thought y'all would like this info. :)

EDITED--I love the way this one looks! (click for ebay page)[/URL]

Wow, what a design, now I wonder if its any good for the buy it now price of $15.95 plus $6.95 shipping? It says its 440 Steel  and handle material is:

"440 stainless Steel /with G10 Overlays"

I'd like to handle one in person, but for the price, probably just worth buying to see if its anygood...

Did you see the "Damascus" one?

Blades n More is BAD NEWS!! I wouldn't give him $1 for a Sebenza. He sells knock offs and told Ernie Emerson to go Fck himself. He is a major importer of Clones and is the one that actually sends off brand named designs to be made. There is ALLOT more, but I will leave it at that.

I'll reserve judgment on knock-off knives. But wanted to point out that the "seal" knife is basically a copy of Shane Sibert's Darius fixed blade (you can check out TAD for actual knife) - I think it retails for more than $250.

Doesn't the selfdefenseforums store sell tricked out Mtech Kerambits? There was a review on one of them earlier, in the Review Section. They look pretty decent after modification.

Wow, I had no idea I was promoting someone who was hurting legitimate knife makers/dealers. I just got a good deal and wanted to pass it on... sorry if I offended anyone.

TheBadGuy: would you care to fill us in? I'm not sure that I remember reading anything about this company.

Come on BadGuy! Give us the deal, I would like to know, or email me if there is something we should know about them. Paul

I don't think you offended anyone here, people are just offended by the knife you bought. :-)Unfortunately Ebay is a breeding ground for this sort of thing.

Of course if you're feeling guilty, you could even things out by buying a US made knife - the Leek is a fantastic inexpensive knife. Not that long ago I bought a SW and neck tanto, sure i knew it was cheap junk, but if i realised that it was a ripoff of annother knife i would've passed on it.
Just chalk it up to experience :-)

Ummm Blades n More is a small **** in a large bowl. He has about as much to do with the clones as bobo the hobo down the street, M-Tech knives come from Master Cutlery 701 Penhorn Ave., Secaucus, NJ 07094 how can some little **** in Austin, Texas be important to them I dont know. Anyone can buy from master cutlery as long as you want to buy about 200.00 worth of junk from them at a time. I think the guy just got scared when confronted by Ernie and like the snake he is he puffed up his head and started acting bigger than he really was. My guess is that if Ernie filed a lawsuit that this guy would fold like the cheap knives he sales. I read what he said and all I got to say is let Ernie give him a demonstration of the kerambit in person and we'll see how tough the guy is.

No matter what Kerambit it is that you got from him its a knockoff. He has copies of the Emerson, and of the Duncan/Mah design.

Is it just me, or are plenty of these MTech designs the same as those BOSS designs?

This guy told Erine Emerson before he knew who he was that "I work hand in hand with Boss knives and Master Cutlery, I send the designs off to China and have them made" Then when Ernie told him who he was he started to flip out saying "I fcked Kershaw and if you mess with me I will fck you!!! I will send off every single design you make and have the Emerson logo put on them and ruin you"

This guy is a major playing in the clone wars and not just some piss ant dealer

I dont think I would ever knowing buy another knock off knife ! Its wrong and I like My fingers too much ! Buy the real thing or dont buy anything ! Just MO :)

Ok he said that decides for boss knives which knives get cloned, well if you'll remember we were all here when Mike Turber annouced Boss Knives and held the design contest, all the Boss knives were designed by people on this forum Liong Mah, Monty Fielding, David Winch, Rob Simonich, LILE, etc theres a mile long thread about the formation of Boss knives and where we spotted a few knives that looked like other knife makers wares and Mike changed them to Monty's designs. As far what the guy said "Hi my name is Cyblade I won fiskars int. in a poker game and decided to drop the gerber brand" just because someone says something dont make it so. Acouple of times I've said I was in the knife saleing buisness to get my hands on wholesale catalogs, I even went so far as to go downtown and get a sales tax certificate so that when they asked I could give them the number, I've ordered from these places sold a couple of knives and kept what I wanted, that doesnt make me a knife dealer now does it. If you go back and look at all the Boss threads youll see what happened with M-Tech and Master Cutlery.

I think I've seen this guy, if he's the one I'm thinking of, he's from Austin. He always reserves ten or more of the best tables at the SAXET gunshow in San Antonio. He sells everything from magnifying glasses, to Pakistani swords, and cheep chineese dollar store quality knockoffs of tools and has three or four tables dedicated to knockoff Kershaw Whirlwinds and Avelanche's, S&W SWAT's, etc... etc.... sells them 3 for $15. There are always a bunch of people, who don't know who he is, gathered around his tables, He'll actually tell people that these cheep POS knives are Kershaw and S&W factory seconds! Has the real things locked up in a glass case for people to see, but not touch. The guy makes a fortune selling to kids and those too nie've to know better. All the other dealers hate his guts, but the people who run the gunshow won't do anything about him, because he always reserves so many premium tables. I think the worst I've seen him do, was go off on a couple 12-14yo boys who had proudly shown him a hand made custom ATS-34 fixed blade, with sheephorn scales, that a local maker from New Bronfels had made, and just "Given" to them for the loose change in their pockets, around $30 I think. This guy's work normally sells for $150-$300, and is similar in craftsmanship to my D.Holder and Russel knives. He told these poor kids they where "Fools," and that the knife maker had taken advantage of them, then showed them some Pakistani knockoff with a similar design for $10 and said that they could have easily bought three such knives for the price they paid!

I'd have to say that the knives do look pretty good in the pictures, but i've learned that pictures can be deceiving. And since those pictures are not even high resolution or close up they can be misleading, and nowadays they can make anyone or anything look good in pictures. The thing that bugs me most is when a guy asks you why did you spend 200 dollars on a knife and they pull out a cheapie and say they bought this for 5 bucks.

I have edited the hyperlinks to ebay out. That is a definite no-no on this site. If someone is breaking the rules like that,it would help if people wouldn't keep copying the links in their responses. It just makes moderators have to chase all ovet the thread doing edits. I'll leave this thread open since it looks like it has turned into a "real vs knockoffs" debate. In general, knockoffs are kind of frowned upon around here, since we rely on the expertise of the makers and companies who suffer because of the cheap and flimsies.
