Mtech151 Sheath questions

My first post here after lurking for awhile. I ordered a Mtech 151 (Trailmaster clone)
and know I'll need a serious sheath. I want it made out of leather and plan on making it myself from thick saddle leather. I want to replicate a sheath like a Randalls and would like to know what thickness their leather is. Also where does one find that small amount? Tandy sells leather but much larger pieces than I need.

Merry Christmas all,
Blackie

For good quality project leather at a cheap price, go to a charity thrift store: Salvation Army, Goodwill, or whatever's near you. Look at their women's handbags for good quality leather. Know the dimensions you want. Cut up the handbag for your project. Can be a good source for lots of MYOG projects, including small hardware. Check out all the sections where they might have leather products, including tall boots...something like a Frye's boot should be great for sheath leather. Don't forget to check women's boots.
Good luck.

I used to go to Tandy's back in their heyday but they were always a little pricey and their quality of leather was often thinner than I wanted.
