Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone here had experience with Nessmuk style knives. Also who makes a good (affordable) Nessmuk? Thanks for your time.

God bless,
Adam

lots of the custom makers on here make great versions and all at pretty decent prices

My most used knife is a Nessmuk made by Jeff White. Look on the 'bay, mine is 1095 with a nice curly maple handle. I love mine, and the price is great.

I own one Nessmuck made by Dan Koster. It is also the only custom knife I own with a Scandi grind. I've used it to cut up plenty of cheese and Summer sausage, but that's about it. I just always reach past it to pick up one of the other knives. It's a cool design as far as nostalgic and old timey stuff goes. Good skinning knife from what I understand. Although, I think the majority of popularity for that knife has come from the mystique of the man, George W. Sears. I don't know that there's a more popular name in the bushcraft and knife community that Nessmuck and no more widely known term than "the Nessmuck Trio". If it weren't for that, I'd bet that the Nessmuck style knife would be nothing more than a "skinner design".

Conder makes a very affordable nessmuk,
For customs, you can check out JK Custom Knives, Ray Laconico and ML Knives.
Plenty of info in this thread

Guys,

Thanks for the input. I am going to take a look at getting one from Jeff White off of ebay (hoping the bids stay low.) How does the blade geometry do for chopping and slicing tasks?

God bless,
Adam

Chopping and slicing is pretty much all I do with it. Mine came with an edge so sharp I cut myself just touching the edge...I love it!
Here are some pics of mine, it's my primary kitchen knife, so I put a vinegar patina on it...that being said, it still lightly rusts if I leave it wet (oops!). Good hunting!

P.S.-Sorry for the crappy pics, florescent lighting with a iphone camera...you can see the aftermath!

Well, I just won a Jeff White Nessy off of ebay for $22.01. I'll let you guys know about how it comes out. The price is crazy low for a custom IMHO. Thanks for all your help.

God bless,
Adam

How much do his Nessmuk knives usually go for on eBay? I wish he had a BuyItNow option. I hate bidding for stuff. LOL

Wow, I'm honored. One of my threads has become a Zombie thread. *Sniff-Sniff* It brings a tear to my eyes. Anyhow, I wound up getting a Jeff White, it cost me 22.50 shipped IIRC. Good knife, use it a lot in the kitchen.
