saw these cool looking knife sin the alantic cutlery catolog i think ther nice looking. how are they ? what kind of steel do they have ? good or bad?

I had one of their knives for about 15 years that I bought from A.C. in High School...fixed blade spanish military issue....I beatr the crap out of that knife for years and NEVER hurt it and it was easy to sharpen and held a good edge to....I doubt you would regret buying one.

I too have had great luck with Muela knives. I would say whatever the steel they are using is the equivelant of 440C. Great value for the dollar :D

What Bill Siegle said. I had several Muela knives in my earlier years and I found them to be dependable. The designs were simple and clean and quite cool, and the fit and finish was reasonably good for the price. In terms of the steel, they seem to use a range of steels, similar to the 440-range. The specs I got at the time indicated that they used steels similar to 440A, 440B and 440C, but some of them were modified with additional vanadium. The grinds were nice and thin which made cutting more enjoyable. I can't speak of their current range which has expanded, but if they've kept up their QC, it should be all good. Jason.
