Hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction.
I'm after a fixed blade Bowie / Hunter style.
Use will not be overly harsh. Lopping off thin branches, fire stick making and the like.
No box cutting / breaking down kinda stuff - I have an abundance of folders for such tasks and my Rat1 or code 4 often gets these type of jobs.
Always liked the Buck 119, which I know is kind of iconic in many ways.
However, US made knives are a bit spendy in the UK.
So, I've also been looking at the Muela BW-16 OL (Olive wood & brass)
Cost wise, the Muela is equiv $71.
The basic 119 is equiv $114 and the wood handled one equiv $140
Firstly, have any of you owned a Muela?, and your thoughts? - good info is sketchy (I know they've been around for a long time though). Blade steel is X50CRMOV15 (allegedly similar performance to 440C ??). I know little about this steel and no expert on blade steels tbh.
Dilemma is: Do you feel the Muela would suit my needs (are they any good ?), or could it be a lemon and I should maybe just play safe and get the Buck?
