I was looking around Muhlhauser & Sohne's website Sunday night and stumbled across a deal on a blemished warthog. If you haven't heard of them, they are a custom knife maker out of Connecticut. Here is a link to the knife, so you can see the specs: http://www.mgmknives.com/M-G-Muhlhauser-Sohne-Warthog-Hunting-Knife-p/wh3aa0.htm

On Tuesday, I get a call from Marcus Muhlhauser to let me know that the knife shipped on Monday and to see if I had any questions. He was a real nice fellow and we talked knives for a while. Today, the knife came in. I was very surprised at the packaging and everything that came with it:

1. Knife inside a walnut box
2. Certificate of Authenticity
3. Thank you note from Marcus
4. Bandaid holder
5. Muhlhauser & Sohne window sticker
6. Sheath

The knife is great. They sharpened and stropped it and it is very sharp. The blade is CPM154 and is polished to a nice shine. The G10 handle is finished nicely and is very comfortable. The knife feels substantial, but not overly heavy. There was one small place on the G10 that was less than perfect, and I imagine that this is why it was a blemish. To say I am impressed is an understatement. Here are some pics:

Morgaj1 - Thanks so much for your review! I always love hearing feedback from our customers. Without you, we would not exist. If you, or anyone else, is interested in how our knives are made, here is a video. Enjoy :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDi6Hp1QI9s

Just watched a few minutes of the vid, and will watch the rest later. I had not heard of your knives until reading the review, but they are beautiful! I love the African names too.
Just noticed an Outjo, and on both my trips I was between Outjo and Kamanjab. That is a beautiful area.

Thanks for watching the video! I love hunting Namibia and just came back from S.A.. We've probably hunted some similar areas based on your description. Thanks for the feedback!

I occasionally make them. They make a decent handle but if you are gonna beat on the knife every day,we cut them in half lengthwise and make scales on each side of a full tang. Mammoth ivory and tooth have become really popular. So has giraffe bone which is very tough. That's what was in the video. We keep all of the above in stock and would be more than happy to help any way we can!
How well does warthog ivory work for knife scales, and is that an option you offer?

Nice video and looks like a well run company too, worthwhile to do the video as it helps folks to understand what goes into making the company tick.
Thanks for taking that time!
