Muk vs Sar5

I don't know if you can compare the two- I haven't ever handled a SAR 5 but they seem like very different blades. The Muk is in a class of its own just because of it's unique design. Make sure and refer to the Busse Combat Price Guide Thread before purchasing:D

Now, I have both. Muk handle looks similar in pics, but is more comfortable in hand. Sar5 is not available in satin. Muk wins!
* Full Disclosure; I am a fan of the Sar5. I'll post pics when I get a chance, but the only Sar5 I have left is Banned!

I agree with Wolfdad, two totally different knives.

They are two of my favorite medium sized Busse knives.

I have both too. I agree they are different in a lot of ways save for the handle style and the transition of the choil to the blade. For me, the Sar5 has a more comfortable handle. The Muk is nice, but feels like I am holding a ruler where the Sar5 handle fills out the hand more IMO. This however is worth it for the Muk as I would rather have an anorexic blade for the tasks that this one will likely see.

Tough call. I've thinned out the scales on my 5. So when my Muks arrive today, I can compare. The 5, in original config is like holding a hammer.

But both have that same handle to blade design I like. I'm hoping my Muks get some kitchen duty. I think the angles and thickness will be conducive to that.

I read few post about the Sar5 ,everyone says that the handle is heavier than the blade.
I was wondering if it's the same with Muk?

Thanks for the info... guys:)

Can't comment on the MUK, but I had a SAR 5 for a short while and didn't care for it very much. With it's awkward handle shape, your hand feels like it wants to slide forward. Not good on a knife with no guard!

I just got my Muk:D however, if is not taboo to talking about the muk....it seems a bit handle heavy too.

good luck to ya:)

I feel like the muk has that same feeling, but there is plenty of blade width you catch your finger. Balance is behind the first rivet. Makes it very easy to control in detailed work.
