Post your pics! I am going to make some scales for the ones I got coming in the mail. I was thinking of doing some G10 with scallops.

Here is one I did a couple years back.

Great looking handle Panch0. Is that Ironwood? I love that grain pattern.
Here's some of mine. The mule project rocks.

Nice work, Tinbasher! What did you use for the Spyderco badges? They look sort of like the Spyderco lapel pins...

You guys make me sick! I still have all my mules that are naked, no pants at all. I better get off my duff and get busy slapping some scales on a few things. :D
Very nice work everyone. The CF and orange really pop beautifully Tinbasher.

Thanks for the kind words guys, TedP yes they are the lapel badges with the pins filed off.
As you can see both customers wanted them in different places and orientated differently.

I have only had one Mule that I made scales for. Do each version have the holes in the tang in the same locations? Can you make handles for this new one and use the same scales on an earlier version?

All the Mule blanks come with the same hole configuration. I have found that sometimes there are very very slight size differences but nothing that can't be fixed with a little sand paper. In short, you should be fine using scales from one mule to the next, provided they are removable and not pined.

I agree with Jtoler - the patterns are very very close between runs. I usually ream out the 3/16" holes before pinning them just to ensure that any burrs are gone - but my custom made scales seem to be completely interchangeable between my Mules (with the exception of the MT01, as Mattmanyam points out.) Also, the Woodcraft Mule is a slightly different pattern - but I've found that scales are interchangeable among my Woodcraft Mules, too.

Isn't CNC manufacturing wonderful?
