Mule Team 11 M390...

i hate knowing the package is sitting at home...........maybe at least a run home for lunch? ;)

I agree, knowing there is something sitting in the mailbox all day is like torture. After so many years using knives and now collecting, I still get that feeling. For that, sick days were invented ;)

The part that worries me when I know a package is waiting is knowing it could walk off, or somebody else could open it and kill the joy of opening a package addressed to me.

Well, the package didn't walk off but the Mule I received was COS-3 as opposed to M390. Kinda had my heart set on M390 because that's what I paid for, but the COS-3 blade is pretty cool.

It's "Takefu Cobalt Special", a laminated blade. AUS420J on the sides, with whatever "Cobalt Special" is on the inside. It has a hamon and is pretty dang cool overall. $10 more expensive than the M390 Mule. Dadgum sharp, too, I can tree top hairs with this thing. I reckon I'll keep it. I have a M390 Millie on order; guess I'll just wait for that.

Well, heck, if you ordered the m390, but got the more expensive one instead (I am assuming you did not order the COS-3), then it seems like it was a mistake in your favor! Now lay low before Sal finds you and sends the Spyderco hit squad... I mean error correction team... after you.

Did you order it from the SFO? I'm thinking of getting a M390 myself.

Update: I bought one a few minutes later haha.

I really like the M390 Mule. Takes a great edge and holds it very well. It's become my favorite stainless of all I've so far tried. Looking forward to the Millie and Para 2 exclusives in M390 coming out next year.

Like you said, it's a Lamination line, not a hamon!

Thanks for the pics too, I did not know they encased the Cos-3 within two sides of Stainless

I should know the difference between a hamon and a lamination line by now; pardon my ignoramusness. :D

Well shoot....I guess I have to order an M390 now.

I am in the process of rebeveling/sharpening mine.

It is definitely a wear resistant steel, but most certainly not as difficult to work with as I had been led to believe. ATOMA diamond plates on the Edge-Pro work well, though not as rapidly as with other steels. I like it!:D:thumbup:

Cool....all I have is a Sharpmaker and some DMT Diafolds. Hope those will suffice.

I broke down and bought another M390. We'll see what shows up! :D
