Bwa haha ha ha (evil laugh)

I am wishing that someday there will be a Mule Team in Vanax 75. Anyone else that would like to see this happen? Can we convince Sal?

From what I've heard about Vanax 75 is that availability will be nill. It's the primary reason why Kershaw went with the composite blade on the Tilt (from what I remember reading).

Edit: I'd buy one in a heartbeat if it was available!

Makes the Tilt that much more special

I'd be all over this if Spyderco was able to make it happen, but like capid1 said, availability is going to be a massive obstacle. I also agree with the point made in post #5 that, unless the availability situation changes dramatically, if Spyderco is able to get their hands on some, I'd rather see it go straight into a sprint run Para 2 or Military since there's no guarantee that they'd be able to get more of it any time soon. Basically, I wouldn't hold my breath for this.

There are, however, lots of other Bohler-Uddeholm PM steels that are more readily attainable and would really cool to see in a Mule (e.g., the K390 that Sal ordered as a result of that thread a while back).

couldnt carpenter make their own version? they seem to have done well in the past makin steels in short supply.

Not likely to happen......

follow up question(s)......due to sheer cost and lack of demand for this steel or too hard on machinery and labor to turn into blades, or some other reason(s)? thanks in advance, Sir.

That would be great. Also a CPM-3V mule too:)

Sal should make a 3V sprint run of the bushcraft.

I would make the perfect contender for let's say the BRKT's

(I see BRKT nowadays are making more knives in 3V than in any other blade steel  !!!
Interesting because a few years ago Mike was saying A2 was good enough and the average user wouldn't pay any premium for 3V
It seems the tables have turned big time)

The steel is not available. :)

Looking through the literature it talks about Vanax running at 57-59 rc. Is this max hardness for this steel?

1) wouldn't this affect edge stability and strength ( not abrasive or adhesive wear resistance) ?

2) Is Vanax 75 different in it's achievable hardness from regular Vanax?

Thanks,

Joe

Pretty sure that when the B-U literature says "Vanax" (without the "75"), it's short for Vanax 35. Vanax 75 can definitely be run harder than 57-59 HRC; Thomas mentioned in a post in that massive Tilt thread in the Kershaw/ZT subforum that the hardness of the Tilt's Vanax 75 is around 62 HRC.

If the demand is there, couldn't Carpenter make some, unless its like Nitinol(sp) whatever strider made some knives in
