Mule Team MT41

A new Mule Team dropped yesterday. MT41, VG XEOS, says the steel is comparable to VG-10. I've got two coming, need to see what I have for wood to do the scales. Kind of surprised I didn't see anything about it here.

didn't even know about it. I seem to be missing new spyderco coming out, lately. thanks for heads up on it.....

I wouldn't worry about getting an MT41.

It's probably going to be one of those Mules that languishes for years because it's not made w/a "sexy" steel.

After the initial rush, even the ceramic MT40 is still available. 🤷‍♂️

But, if you want one, I wouldn't wait around too long because they all sell out eventually; some just sooner than others.

That depends on real world performance. With the somewhat cool reception it seems to be getting so far, I doubt it will.

I think it's the same edge retention that is turning people off since VG10 is already decently corrosion resistant. But if it's a supply thing like H1 had to switch to H2 steel then I'm never going to complain for more corrosion resistance.

Agreed. I'd like to pick up a stainless endela or endura but am not wanting vg10. I'm waiting for some day to get a chance to get one in spy 27 or magnacut. I really thought spy 27 would be doing more since it's supposed to be an "upgraded" vg10. Anyhow I'm just being picky.

I looked at it and the analysis that Spyderco did on the steel. I opted to get a couple of the mules. Seems like a slight upgrade on VG-10 and I like the properties, I wanted something I could do some kitchen prep with rather than the non-stainless mules I have now. I know I could have gotten one or two in AEB-L and while I do like that steel I actually make quite a few knives in it and wanted something different. Sure the SPY27 Mule2 would have fit but the VG XEOS was out and available so I figured I'd get a couple and play with them.
