I am hoping to hear comments and see pictures of Vintage pattern knives that have the master blade lock and a slipjoint secondary blade. Custom knives welcome also, that would fit this description, I know some do exist;)Elliott!

I am interested mostly in large straight jacks that have a extended tab front lock AND a secondary small blade that slips.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Ken Erickson

Not sure how vintage it is but this one in AG's catalog has caught my eye for having the locking main blade.

Says it's 4 3/8" and was done for their collector's club in 1990.

It looks like that was based on an older pattern by Henckels and other German companies, but no extended front lock. Secondary blade unlocks the main blade.

I was curious exactly what the lock setup was since their description doesn't give any details on that point.

Just fished out this Weidmannsheil stag locker I've got. About 4" closed maybe a bit more, Barehead, Copperhead bolster. Nail nicks on same side, Spear/Zulu main, Wharncliffe secondary. Main blade locks and is opened by depressing the secondary blade, which is slipjoint. Can't photo it but I'm sure they can be found on search.

Rough Rider makes a locking trapper like the one willgoy described above, with locking clip main and small Wharncliffe secondary you depress to unlock the big clip. You could buy one off the bay for under $15 and have one to take apart for a pattern.

Not exactly what you are looking for Ken but Ryu Kawamura makes a Trapper with a clip blade lock back and a Wharncliffe slip joint. He calls it his Premium Trapper.

Yes, they were made by several or the old Sheffield firms, though I'd have to dig around to see if I've got any pictures of some. As far as customs are concerned, I know Ron Newton and Joel Chamblin have made them.

Dwight,

Thanks for the input, it helps to know that these have been made.

Ken -- PM sent.

Ed,
PM sent , thanks,

Hi Ken,

An old Winter Sheffield dirk I posted pictures of on another thread has a locking master and non locking pen blade.

Thanks Mick,

This helps me a lot,

Ken

Here's a Browning with a rear locking main and a slip secondary.

Sorry I don't have the knife anymore or I could take some closups.

Here's one made by Joel Chamblin after an old Sheffield example. (Pictures snagged off the sold archive at AzCK.)

Thanks Dwight!

That is what I am looking for, and what a great example I must say. Joel built a beautiful knife.

Hi Ken,

I've been scratching my head, knowing I'd seen a large straight two bladed lockback before, Joseph Rodgers made one in various sizes 3 1/2" through to 6". Pictures of the knife are in "The Heritage Of English Knives" (Hayden-Wright) on pg 135.

Hi Ken,

I think this one is what you are after.
Another by Ryu K - he calls it a 2 blade English jack with lockback.
(more photos on his web site)
The master has a tab-style lock and the pen is a slip joint. It's 4" closed.
