got a catalog from steele arms the other day,
had multi-purpose tool in it for 16 bucks,
it was shovel, saw, ax, hammer, bottle opener, and a nail pulller,
anybody ever use one? is it worth throwing in the back of the truck?

I think I know the one you are talking about. Its basically a shovel, with various items cut into or bent-onto the shovel blade. If I remember, its only about 1' in over all length.

I didn't find it that useful as a shovel, too short. OK for digging potty holes, but that's about it, and I have something much smaller and lighter for that. The saw isn't very good. The hammer works OK, but it isn't that heavy, so don't expect to drive really big nails with it. Works for tent stakes though. Every thing else works OK. Not worth it IMHO if you're looking something to carry in your car. If its something to hike with, this is light enough, but how often to you drive or pull nails in the field? For everything else, there are lighter small shovels, and a SAK works great.

GLOCK makes a field Spade..It's collapsible and it comes with a saw attachment to be used on the handle..It's reasonable price, and its made by GLOCK, so you know you are buying qaulity...
