Dear All,

I have a Leatherman Wave and a Swiss tool. I have been using the Wave about 3 months and recently noticed small rust spots appearing on the plier shoulders and slightly on the handles. I was wondering what you guys recommend for cleaning and maintaining your tools / knives to stop this problem. So far, the Swiss tool is still perfect, as are all my Victorinox products.

Thanks for your advice.

P.S. Has anyone ever tried using the Wave adapter on a Swiss tool ?? I've been told it fits perfectly ??

I applied a couple coats of car wax on mine. I then wipe it off after every use with a good lubricant.

Spent two years in Thailand and found that lots of
thing rust there. So I'd say your wave is about normal.
Just keep it clean and ............dry.

I have had good luck using Tuf-Cloth on all my knives and multi-tools. It does a good job at removing small rust spots, and more importantly - it prevents more from developing. I also use Tuf-Glide or Militec-1 on the pivots every so often.

Tightwad has it right...(as to the others).

Spray/soak it out periodically with some WD-40, Miltec, Tuf-glide, Rem-oil....etc. Always keep it dry....

TW, where were you in Thailand???

Flitz will take care of those little rust spots no problem.

I use my Marine Tuf-Cloth and Tuf-Glide (on pivot points) on all of my knives, as well as, my Leatherman tools (Wave, Supertool, and Micra). For the removal of light rust spots, I use some Nevr-Dull metal polish.

Thanks for all your replies and help on this. Now I have to find the Sentry Solutions stuff in Bangkok !
