I have always carried a Knife. Since I can remember, I am 43 now. Had one in shop class, was mandatory then, and worked for a horse trainer, mandatory then too, ( to cut a lead if the horse spooked to prevent injury) and its just like a finger or toe. something there, that you use and don't even think about it. I got a real good deal on a leatherman charge tti, so I started carrying it for grins, with the pocket clip it is easy.....man I always grab it now, its like the perfect everything knife....need it a pocket knife? it does that. Need tools it does that, it doesn't freak anyone out and is crazy useful. I have a swiss champ that I love too....but with full size pliers and locking blades and tools I can't believe I got by this long without one. I got the Universal tool adapter and some extra bits and sockets that i leave in the car, and there is nothing I can't do. I have used it for everything. Went to a friends bbq, his grill wasn't working, so I fixed the grill with the leatherman, then used the blade to cut all the meat, and then removed the grill panel for cleaning after. Iif only I had known how cool these are. I have an original PST from 1992 that i never carried because I thought it was a novelty. Mcgyver would have been twice as cool with a leatherman!

I will admit that some of them now have some mightly useful knives on-board. However, I'm guessing it's STILL easier/faster to deploy your fave OHO pocketknife then that of the Leatherman, MOST of the time. Frankly, with Leathermans's warranty, I would use the tools' blades for those things you wouldn't THINK of doing with your standard knife! :D

That was pretty much my experience with the Charge TTi, including semi-retiring my Swisschamp and underestimating the PST, with one important exception. An implement the Charge/Wave doesn't have is an awl, the lack of which was almost a deal breaker for me. Around the same time I was pondering whether to pull the trigger or pass on a TTi, there came upon the interwebs a really good deal on one and, talk about luck, simultaneously someone offering an awl mod that fit the pocket clip slot. I grabbed both and found true happiness at last. I can't believe I got by this long without one (or am I repeating somebody? :D .)

Well the Charge HAS a OHO S30V blade, so it IS one of my FAV OHO knives...lol. I never used an awl too much, but yes they are not too hard to mod. I am happy with it just like it is...and given a choice of just one knife....I cant believe it, but I would choose the Charge...go figure....

sadly i lost my charge tti and dont know where the hell it could be.
greatest single piece of edc anyone can own if you ask me.
for an awl mod that lets you keep the pocket clip just the long screwdriver bit that its the mut eod and grind it to an awl.
that way you have a nice sized awl thats can be interchanged like the rest of the bit driver pieces.

just grind the awl shape of your choice on this bad boy and you have the most complete multitool that i personally have ever seen.
not to mention how kick ass the scissors were on my charge. totally didnt think they would be as great as they were!

My Charge AL has been missing for a few months now :( so I've been using a SOG Powerlock lately. I hate the Powerlock. Going to look for my Charge now :)

i feel your pain! saddest part is when i first got mine i got a great deal...paid about $89 brand new for mine.
looks like i'll be paying $110-129 to get a replacement :jerkit:
