Hey guys ive been looking to get a multi tool for my fiance for a month or so now, at first i was looking at a LM juice but im wondering if anyone has some suggestions on other multi-tools or even a SAK that might be just as or more useful than a juice? Main things would be a knife, screwdriver, pliers would be nice but not necessary, nail file, and possibly tweezers and toothpick. And seeing as its for a girl it should look half decent too:p

o and id like to keep it around $100 canadian

Thank you
Caleb

I just bought my girlfriend a Victorinox Compact. She loves it. There is a guy on ebay who does engraving for only 3 bucks (who sells the knives) -he will be easy for you to find. I put our initials "X&Y" on the blade so that she would actually use it. The sentimental stuff helps since my girl is kind of new to carrying a knife. The scales are her favorite shade of transparent emerald green -and there are many more colors for you to chose from.

It has all the tools a girl would need. Namely scissors, pen, cork screw, nail file (on side of milti purpose hook), bottle/ can opener/ screw driver, mini screw driver (for glasses etc), of course a knife, and even a tini pin needle. ---and all this on only a two stack Vic. Very slim, easy to fit in a purse or small girl pockets. --almost forgot tweezers and toothpick.

The one I bought (lmtd edition scales/ engraving) only cost 30 bucks US currency. She loves it and actually uses it and carries it. She showed it off at work to a bunch of guys, none of whom had a knife on them -Ha!

that seems like an excellent option, she does really like the juice tho so i have some thinking to do

What kind of tasks does she usually run into most days? Also is she a dedicated purse carrier or not? If she carries one then a medium to largish sized one might not be bad. If she doesn't than something slim would be good since most girls pants are not designed with functional pockets in mind.

I once gave my then girlfriend a manager. Blade, nail file, flat head, phillups, bottle opener, scissors, tweezers, and a pen all in a package small enough to fit on a key chain. It comes in a variety of colors too. In the Midnight Manager a LED replaces the tweezers.

some people have said the tools are not easy to take out of the Juice, that some are tight,
I have 2 models and they are slightly snug but not all. I do like the Juice.

I just got my gf a Wenger Esquire; Knife, scissors, file and the tweezers and toothpick.
"felinevet" has a really nice deal going.

the only reason that i really wanted to get the juice is for more of an emergency, like a small problem with a car or even the odd use for pliers but i might be better off just getting her a basic sak for everyday use now that you guys have posted some suggestions

My wife has a couple of 91mm Victorinox SAKs that I gave her but has decided that she likes the look of the 58mm range. She decide that she really only needs the nail file, scissors and a blade.....so that would be a Vic Classic then.

Personally I'm not such a fan of the serrated edges on the Wenger scissors as they leave a bit of a rough cut on fingernails, but each to their own.

BTW I also keep a Leatherman PST in the car so there is always that near to hand if she really needed it.

yes Gareth makes a good point, keep her larger plier based MT in the car and a smaller sak on her
(keys, bag, the frying pan she hits you with) ;)

I recently got my wife a LM Squirt S4 for 25 USD and she really loves it. U can chose from the 3 models they have. Buy her 2 so she can keep them in different places.

I have given my wife LM micra and PST and SAK waiter and classic. All get used but mostly the small ones. Bosse

Many years ago I gave my wife what was then the equivalent of the Climber. She carried it everywhere and used it often, sometimes the knife but mostly the scissors. Early this year I gave her a Leatherman S4 and now that's all she uses.

People differ, generalizations are iffy, but I think women are more inclined to a smaller EDC, especially when scissors equipped. Although the 58mm Vics are more elegant, the larger scissors in a similar sized Squirt are more versatile. That's what I would recommend.

thanks for the post so far guys, i have considered the squirt but i think its a little too small, im thinking i will likely get her a small simple sak and a juice for the car/purse

My $0.02: Go to the Vic site and see what combos of tools she'd like that can be an easy carry for her. Once you know which SAK, contact Felinevet. Then get a Spirit for the car glovebox.
If you go overbudget, get the SAK, then just pick up a good quality 5-in-1 screwdriver and a small pair of Channellocks and maybe some diagonal cutters for the car. Shouldn't cost as much as a Spirit and since she'll have the SAK with her that'll cover most bases.

I think it's really important that the one she'll be carrying all the time is one she really likes, else she may drop the whole idea. You can always get the bigger one next year.
