Alright after all the talk of multi tools and everyone saying there great to have as a EDC, I finally fell into the temptation. Can someone recommend me a top of the line heavy duty Multi Tool, something I can carry around the house, work, and if I go camping.

I've tried them all, and my favorite is the Victorinox SwissTool. Best build quality out of all the brands out there.

Thanks for the suggestion actually I just saw the Leatherman Wave has anyone ever used this before if so how did you like it.

as far as leathermans go, the wave is pretty much THE leatherman. that said, the swisstool is just as good if not better.

ok most everyone here with a multi tool has used a leatherman...and the most popular of them is the wave and with good reason very good bag for ur buck...and i use to be a hardcore gerber fan but i fine their steal that is used is not as good as leather man...now only if gerber steeped it up so i would have to break it while in the air 50ft and on a small platform then i would be happy to get it...in short leatherman wave is very good and u will not be sorry...

Never tried a SwissTool but I have got a WAVE. I originally got it for work but it's proven so useful that now soon as I get home it comes off my duty belt and goes everywhere I do.

Well, there's the "old" Wave and the "new" Wave, and I prefer the old one because I don't like the interchangeable bits on the new one, especially the tiny little screwdriver that would only be useful for repairing eyeglasses or something. The steel used on all leathermans are very low quality. I have had the big flathead screwdriver chip on me on a few occasions. Another problem is wobbly handles. Especially prevalent with the Wave.

Well this sucks I am stuck in between buying the Leatherman Wave and the Victorinox SwissTool and I am getting mixed reviews.

This might help, get the swiss tool. As HVAC tech this knife takes a beatening and keeps on performing. I own sogs(2), schrade, swisstools (2), and a surge.

If you'd rather have the Wave's big brother & for serious heavy-duty EDC.

Try the LM-Surge.

Actually another Leatherman just caught my eye its the charge TTi, I think I am going to keep looking around at them and see what I find.

I have an older Wave and Love It, I have been Disapointed By newer waves I have seen and would probably go with the charge, or one of the other models if I had to replace it.

i had an older wave and wore it out
replaced under warranty by a new wave which i dont like too much

i managed to get a victorinox swisstool for a very good price and it now rides in a uncle mikes open top mag pouch on my left hip, all day every day.
for cutting tasks that require a one hand opening blade, i use a spyderco

Why would you go with leatherman? I think just about everyone has started out with a leatherman. I did, but the vic swisstool is a beast and you pay so little for so much. Seriously, do yourself a favor and forget leatherman exists. Another great tool is the gerber legend 800, but i still say get a swisstool. I just wish they would put spring loaded pliers on them then they would be perfect literally.

Edit: I have gorilla hands hahahaha

Here's my 2 cent's worth...

I had the Gerber Legend and it was nice but just too big.
You need some serious gorilla hands to use it comfortably.

The SwissTool was nice but it had some shortcomings too:
The jaws are too blunt for my needs, the tools were not that easy to access due to the nail-nicks, the screwdrivers were highly polished and tended to slip off of the screws, and it was too heavy to EDC.

The old Leatherman Wave set the standard when it first came out but...
Not all of the tools locked (very frustrating to have a screwdriver fold on you when applying pressure), sometimes the pliars got stuck in the handle when using certain inner tools, and the handles developed alot of "wobble".

The new Leatherman Wave is much better overall but the screwdriver bits are too stubby for my needs (you can't get to recessed screws).

The Leatherman Surge is great but too darn heavy to lug around all day long and it has some tools that I really don't need.

I have not tried the Charge.

I prefer the Leatherman Blast:
It's not too heavy, all of the tools lock, the cutting blade is longer than my old Wave's blade, the screwdrivers are long enough to access recessed screws, it is very comfortable to use, and it has all the tools I use on a regular basis (except it also has the tiny screwdriver which is not that often used).
Best of all, it's only about $38.00 dollars!

Good luck,
