Does anyone own SOG MULTI-TOOLS? What are your experiences with them? Do you like Leatherman better?

Hi jetsrb32, I have a SOG PowerLock on my belt right now. It is my constant companion. It was purchased because some friends have the PowerLock and recomended it to me, plus I had lost my beloved Leatherman Mini. The Mini was my constant companion for 9 or 10 years. The PowerLock has been going strong for a year and I wouldn't trade it for any other tool. Though I still miss the Mini. I think both are great tools.

The only Leatherman currently made I'd even consider buying is the Wave. The Vic Swisstool and the SOG Powerlock are probably the two best multitools on the market with the difference in them being more a person's design preference than quality. One often overlooked tool I'm quite fond of the the SOG Paratool, it is small, simple, and none of the blades lock, but it gets the job done and quite well, I really like mine.

I have 2 Powerlocks and I really like them and use them frequently.

I also have a Leatherman Charge, 2-Waves, used to have a Surge, Supertool, Victorinox SwissTool, and Spirit, as well as several Gerbers.

I reach for and carry the Powerlock more than any of the others. I like the pliers and all of the other tools. They have served me well for several years.

Leatherman is also a great tool. The Charge and the Wave are very nice and work well.

You might want to handle them and see which fits you the best. Or, you can keep buying them until you find the one that you like which seems to be my methodology!

I have a powerlock that replaced a paratool. both excellent tools. I am never without my powerlock. I've used several others the leatherman, Gerbers, and some other cheapos, but for the money the powerlock is hand down the best. Plus the customer service is fantastic, I sent in my powerlock after breaking the pliers, and they replaced it for free and sharpened the knife! Very, very good. I would highly recommend one.

I also have a couple of Powerlocks. They are great tools and i have often thought about getting a 2.0 version because the gears on the 1.0 tend to dig in your hand if you need to apply more pressure when using the screwdriver or the like.

I have the Powerlock, it's amazing. I've worn it on my belt always and gotten many comments about it and lots of surprise about what it can do. I'm actually getting my dad one for Father's Day after he used it for a day doing some work with it. He loved it

I have EDC'd a SOG Powerlock at work for over 1 1/2 years without it missing any of my work days. It is a must-have, has never failed me, and takes punishment beyond belief. The Powerlock cuts wire better with the gears. If the gears hurt your hands, get the newer model. My callused hands aren't affected by them. The one-handed flip open lets me access the Powerlock in a heartbeat when I need it. Sure, I've tried the others, and IMHO, the Powerlock is the best out there.
