Well , after I sharpen up one of the sides . Came pretty dull . ;)

This is the longer handled Cold Steel . Shovel head is also longer and wider .

Shovel , axe , weapon . Compact and Not too heavy for the car .

I keep the shorter version in my 4x4, in addition to a Machete and square nose 1/2 length normal shovel. Be prepared and all...

Im pretty handy with throwing it as well.

I bought one of those recently for camping and liked it enough to want another to just keep in the truck at all times. Then I decided they’d make nice gifts because they’re so damn handy and bought 3 more.

I like that idea! Great way to turn any basic shovel into something much more useful. I wonder how well it would work on a military style folding shovel?

Cold Steel copied the short one from a Russian Spetznaz (Special Forces) shovel.
If you can find one of the Russian surplus ones, the head is a thicker gauge steel but the F&F is military grade.
Sharpened up they make a great survival tool and impromptu weapon. Surplus covers can be found also.

Folding German army shovels are excellent heavy duty tools -- I carried one in the 4 x 4 for years. They were also effective trench warfare weapons and I believe the German Army trained for hand-to-hand combat with them. Also great for digging foxholes.

I just got the CS version about a month ago. It came pretty darn sharp on all three sides. I was actually a bit surprised about that. It’s a formidable weapon if used as such.

I usually use an older surplus folding shovel that I found buried in the sand at a beach 20 years ago. It works awesome and fits in an action packer with tow ropes, tire repair kit, air pump, zip ties, Dawn soap/water mix in a small spray bottle, a pintle hitch, a few clevis hooks, a Fiskars hatchet, a few assorted hand tools, duct tape, an old dive knife, and some rope.
