why have pocket clips (save for the discontinued Leatherman Sideclip)
been absent from multi's? has no one found a design that doesn't get in the
way, or am i the only one looking for a clip?

Chuckelhead, the Charge comes with a great removable pocket clip! :D
And it just happens to be the best multi-tool out there.
Leatherman also has a optional clip available for the BLAST,FUSE and Kick!
IMHO most people prefer a sheath for their multi's except for you and I lol......if you find yourself working in close quarters a clip is far better than a sheath which can get caught or snag up on something.

I think most people feel that a multi-tool is too big to clip to a pocket. In some cases this is justified; I can't see clipping a SwissTool, Gerber AutoPlier, or SOG PowerPlier to my dress pants!!

I think Leatherman is onto something, though: folks are carrying bigger and bigger knives clipped, so perhaps they feel that a Wave isn't that much bigger than a big folder. I think they may be right!!

I sometimes carry my Wave or Charge clipped in a jeans pocket, and it works pretty well. Kinda thick, compared to a knife, but overall no worse than a Blackwood Skirmish, or CUDA MAXX, or Buck Strider.
