I'm looking to buy a Multitool or Swiss army knife type tool for fishing. I'm not really sure what would I should buy. I need the tool to not rust. I'd like the tool to have a good knife cutters and maybe even some pliers. If you have a tool in mind that would be good for fishing please let me know

I found that for fishing I don't need anything but pliers and a blade so the leatherman freestyle cx has worked very well.

Hrmm...

The TV guy from "River Monsters", Jeremy Wade uses a Leatherman multi-tool. I think it's a Wave but it may be a Charge.

I know guys who do a lot of fly fishing and swear by keeping a Micra on a necklace for fast access to the scissors.

I wouldn't recommend a multitool or SAK knife blade as the best for cleaning fish. It's possible but on both, the blades are small compared to a good fixed blade or longer folding knife blade.

And, cleanup afterward is a PIA. :barf: Stick to fixed blades for cleaning fish. :)

As much as I say to get a small fixed blade, even a neck knife, I'll answer your question. I have a Leatherman supertool with the black coating, and that thing has saved my butt a few times and came back for more. I actually left it outside for about 3 days last week and found it last night and other than being dirty she was gtg Again though best tool for the job comes in to play here and as a southern guy here I find myself with a fishing pole in my hand a lot, and I've never had the need for anything but needle nose pliers and my pocket knife. Yes we keep multi tools in vehicles but I've never had to use it. And as far as cleaning fish. A dedicated filet knife really saves your edc from stinking, and plus an edc as thin as a filet knife is gonna be very delicate use, that's why I said get a filet knife or even a havalon knife, which is a knife that is for game animals with disposable replaceable blades.

Stick to fixed blades for cleaning all critters lol. Except maybe that Havalon piranha or piranha Havalon buddy owns a sporting goods store and people sing that knifes praises all the time.

If you are fishing in salt, you are going to have to be religious about cleaning. Victorinox are good, but tougher one handed.

Victorinox Angler, Victorinox Deluxe Tinker, Victorinox Swisschamp and Victorinox Hercules are a few models that come to mind you may want to check out.

I like dedicated fishing pliers. When fishing, I usually have my usual EDC which is a folder and some sort of SAK/multitool. That works out perfectly fine :)
