Hi folks,
I use the two saws on my Leatherman and SAK quite frequently and have noticed they're getting quite dull...I'm adept at sharpening knives with stones strops etc but have never tried sawtooth.

Anyone got any tips on these, other than sending them back for replacement? Figured I'd take the more environmentally friendly route.

Thanks

I've never sharpened a multitool saw, but I have thought about how I would do it if I needed to. I came to the conclusion that the best tool for sharpening would be a very narrow diamond file, like a jeweler's file, with a triangular cross-section. If you can find one narrow enough, it should fit between the saw teeth such that you can sharpen two opposite tooth surfaces at once.

But I've never tried it.

There are files made specifically for saw sharpening...

This is similar to what I always tried to use on fanno, ARS, and silky blades before I got fed up trying to sharpen impulse hardened teeth and just started replacing worn blades. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/...MIg9DDoI3Z7wIVymJyCh0nCwVuEAQYASABEgLzrfD_BwE

If the link is out of line I'll edit my post and take the pecker slap, but I don't really know how else to explain it.

Nothing to offer in terms of advice but I am curious what you use it so for. I don’t have and have rarely thought I might need one.

Hey Rishma,
My workplace does not allow knives so I've been using my knifeless rebar's saw to open boxes, make holes in boxes, etc for the past 7 years lol. I can feel it with my finger it's not the sharpest and is now having trouble actually "sawing" through stuff.

The "package opener" on the leatherman is...not very good lol.

DMT makes a Diafold diamond serration sharpener that will handle the material removal involved, but it is up to you to provide the skill needed. I lack the patience to go through and sharpen tooth by tooth. If it lasted seven years, I'd call it a good run and replace the tool - after I gave the saw a long soak in Goo Gone and a thorogh scrub just to make sure it wasn't just clogged with adhesive residue.

Thanks gents for the responses.
Let me on the 'Zon and find some of these things. Think I'll make it a little project getting it back in shape.

I like doing these kind of things; sharpening, restoring, polishing...helps me relax and de-stress. Also, I've had meh experience with sending things back...CRKT lost my knife, KAI took 4 months, etc...

Appreciate all the tips!
