I have been carrying a Leatherman Wave for over a month now.I have used it in some way every day since I bought it.I love the thing, but I guess I wasn't paying attention and I recieved a nasty little cut for being"asleep at the wheel".
I opened the blade and when I closed it,I didn't get the blade shut all the way.The entire tip of the plain blade was sticking out while I was using the screwdriver.I went to fold up the tool and when I choked up on it, the tip of that blade sunk into the meat of my left hand-about an inch down from the web between the index and middle fingers. Not very long, nice and deep though.
The moral of this story:dont start thinking of your multitool as a pair of pliers,or a set of screwdrivers like I did.Remember it is a knife too.:)

Yup, should have had the Gerber. The blade on my Gerber sport has a nice positive spring retention on all tools. Another reason I don't like Leathermans.

Yeah, Christmas day I was opening something with my Wave and using the knife blade with the tool folded.I put down the tool and when I picked it back up (not looking)the blade was now edge up.I put my thumb down on the edge and luckily looked down before applying pressure.Phew!

I knew there was a reason, besides being left handed, that I gave my
Wave away. Now from what is posted here I know what it is.

SUPERTOOL FOREVER!!!!!!!!

I have pinched myself with the pliers and/or the handles themselves on my "multi-tools" a time or two, and that doesn't feel too good, either.:(.

I swear...I could probably cut myself with a dull spoon if I wasn't being carefull.:).

That when you were being attacked bt the 755 escaped Al-Quida Soldiers, all firing M-60's, that a multi-tool was NOT the appropriate "tool".
TEACH you a lesson, bring all your LAWS Rockets to work and getting them stolen and all.
I hope the 12 day surgery, performed at USC medical center AND THEN at Emory Med center to repair all the damage went well:eek:  :p ;) ;) wolf

It is actually not as deep as it looked at first.I don't blame the design of the tool.Common sense dictates:if you are going to close the blade, close it all the way.I learned my lesson.
12 day surgery Wolfmann?Don't you know super glue can fix anything????
...now where my rocket launcher?
