i have taken to collecting multi tools now , i have a leatherman wave , a victorinox swiss tool sprit and 8 other swiss army knives . now i`m thinking of getting either a sog powerlock or a leatherman crunch. which do you think would be better? i know you people are sog biased but................ what do you think? i am a panel beater and would have use for a multi tool , it won`t be something that will just sit in my collection . i`ll use any one of my knives any time i need to for cutting purposes in both work and play. but one knife is never enough for me so which one do you think is better? i can afford both.

I don't own a leatherman crunch but from what I can see the pliers on the powerlock will be alot more usefull. The crunch plier head looks to blunt for my taste. The Powerlock is also built like a tank and the leverage you can get out of it is just plain scary. I think I would recommend the Powerlock, but as you said I'm biased. :D:thumbup:

after spending the past two weeks in New Orleans with the Red Cross, my powerlock was used in a multitude of situations. Cutting wire, crimping wires for computer hook-ups, used the saw and knive blades to open boxes and MRE pouches. The pliers came into play in many situations that nothing else would do. I have had a Leatherman in the past and for the money, my SOG Powerlock beats them all.

i have decided to buy the powerlock as money is no object and it has a 1/4" drive

thanks

I've got both. The powerlock is more versatile, but locking pliers are sure handy when you really need them. The crunch is smaller and lighter, and has fewer tools, BUT if you pair the crunch with a SAK to handle everything else...

I dare say the Crunch has more leverage, but over a shorter range...

Anyway, I'm sure you'll like both ;)
