Just got this today - It`s a Brazilian budget Mundial 6" cleaver in an unspecified high-carbon stainless.
It is 2mm full tang, triple-riveted but is a bit heavy at 277 grams but for the pittance - £12, I am not going to be churlish and nit pick.
With an initial touch-up on my 8 inch #1000 diamond plate it sounds and feels like a high 50`s stainless steel; the harder steels can ring like a bell and so does this one ; I`ve yet to ascertain it`s toughness and edge-retention balance but the reviews look promising.
I am so used to budget knives; if I`m not happy with it I can always thin it and change the geometry ; softer steels help the process but my diamond-wheeled Tormek sorts them out tout de suite too.
I might get the fully-forged Mundials with the wooden handles because their forged professional Tailors scissors are fabulous value and quality.
I must have 30 odd cleavers now - I`m bad but I can`t help myself !
Just got another knife block `cos another four are on the way !
