I am looking to purchase my first Katana. It would mainly be a fun hobby sword, and I'd probably do some occasional cutting with it (water jugs, pool noodles, etc).

After doing a good amount of research, I found the Munetoshi brand. The specs seem very good for the price that they go for.

I'm specifically looking at the Munetoshi Matsu and the Light Cutter. They sell for $160/$170 online.

For a sub $300 katana, I know most will recommend a Hanwei Practical Plus/XL or a Cheness 9260. How does the Munetoshi Matsu stack up to these $225 - $275 swords? Are they $100 better?

Is 5160 and 9260 better than T-10/1095?

Ideally, I would like to spend under $300. But if the Munetoshi can get me there for cheaper, that would be nice.
