I got my USPS package in the mail. Check out my new neck knife!

The knife is incredibly sharp, more so than my Persian model. It's awesome to see the forged finish as well, the hammer finish is nice, but this give the knife a completely different look.

These knives are amazing.
The family shot, now.

Thanks for looking! Murray Carter, check him out.

Beautiful knife. I've gotta check out more of his work.

I got an email from Carter Cutlery just yesterday saying that they'll be updating the selection online as well as adding some new second edition neck knives for cheap (sub $200)! Should be in the next few weeks that we see some new items, and I'm very excited! I'll be adding another one to my collection, as well as sending the Persian model to get sharpened up by the Father (Mr. Carter).

Congratulations! I've been eyeballing that particular Carter model for weeks now. Don't know how much longer I can contain myself. Please, no favourable reviews with gorgeous close-up pictures... that will send me over the edge.

I am a huge fan of Murray's knives. Thanks for posting the pics -- that creamy horn on the Persian is sweet!

I have two Wharncliffe neckers, an older Mutreki and a newer forged Wharncliffe Brute. Easy to sharpen and maintain, and very useful.

Sub $200, now that's what I'm talking about. Thanks for the heads up, will definitely be following his work closely.

You should get it, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how incredibly sharp they are. It makes my other knives feel dull in comparison. Hopefully they'll be adding some new additions to the site, the current selection is dwindling down pretty quick, but I think I already picked out my next one. The white bone wharncliffe. Or a sebenza. :)

The one thing I don't like about CarterCutlery.com is that the photos on the site are so off. The impression of the knives I have purchased from that site are completely different from the product I received, in a positive way. The maroon finish on the micarta almost pops out, to where it looks orange, but in person it has the brown dull color of the forged finish. I think it's a great looking knife, the blade has a nice belly for cutting. Which do you prefer? Razor sharpness of the straight wharncliffe, or more belly?

Just started checking out the knives today but all the neckers I saw on the Carter Cutlery site were quite a bit over $300. If you don't mind, Somber, how much were those two beauties?

The Maroon Micarta was $380, but I bought it with a special offer of receiving one of his absolutely phenomenal kitchen knives. FOR FREE. I can't tell you how amazing his kitchen knives are as well. I'm thinking of getting a few more of those. You know what they say, first one is always free, then you're hooked.

The creamy bone was around the same as well, I bought it with some DVD's and two sharpening stones, too though, so I think I saved some money on the knife. It was maybe the best purchase I've made in a while.

Can you shave with it like he shaves with the one that he sharpens on YouTube? Just seems a little pricy for a necker......but it IS a beautiful knife. Is that a standing offer....buy a kitchen knife and get a necker free?

Buy a necker, kitchen knife for free. And no, it was a limited time offer that was available through his handy knife tips.

Yeah, it pops hairs pretty easily, but I don't know if I want to try shaving with it, I'm not that confident at straight razor shave.

He makes an example in one of his videos:
[paraphrase]
'If you buy a $300 dollar folder, 70% is in the folding mechanism alone.
Whereas with his knives, fixed blade in particular, all of the value of the knife is in steel and craftsmanship of the blade. '

Keep in mind that this isn't just some guy grinding down a strip of steel and epoxying some scales on (not that there's anything wrong with that:D) -- these are laminated and hand-forged. I've been to his forge a couple of times and it's pretty amazing.

Beautiful knife! I've been looking at his knives for a while now but my employment situation isn't great right now so I haven't gotten one yet. I thought the maroon looked orange on the website too but looks good in your pic. I'm subscribing to his sharpening tips newsletter now, I hope that offer is will still be in effect.
Again gorgeous knife. My next one is definitely going to be one of his neck knives
