For those of you who are interested in Murray Carter products I just learned yesterday that he is moving his facilities to new quarters. By the way, I am not affiliated with Carter Cutlery. I simply took a course there once and think that the company is top notch and that his teaching of blade-smithing is the best I've encountered in my own blade-smithing journies.

Dear Patrons,


We are Moving!

Finally the time has come for Carter Cutlery to move from our current location in Vernonia, Oregon, to a much better, larger and better-equipped location. After searching for two years, we finally found exactly what we've been looking for -- a location that is handier to the Portland metropolis, closer to Portland International Airport, larger in land size and yet out of city limits.

The location we found is four times larger than where we are currently located, and has a huge shop with enough room for an office, bladesmith shop, wood-working shop, wet-room and bunkhouse for students to stay in during bladesmithing classes.

As with any large move of this proportion, there are still hundreds of details to be worked out. I'm confident that all of the staff at Carter Cutlery, myself and four employees, will put our heads and hands together to think through and accomplish all that has to be done.

The actual move will take place in January 2011 after our busiest season of the year leading up to Christmas. If anyone wishes to visit with us for a few days and help out with the move, we'd be glad to have your help.
