Hi everybody I'm new here, I just came upon this message board while I was looking for some info on some swords, and I was wondering if you could help me out.

I'm interested in buying a Musashi Daito, and I was just wondering if any of you guys or girls has one, and if you could please give me some information about it (The sword is $1500 AUS dollars, and that's alot to pay for someone that's just finished university). I've visted various sites and they all pretty much say the same thing, but I would like to hear something from someone that has the sword, word of mouth etc. I want to start collecting swords, as martial arts and swords have always been an interest of mine, and I was wondering if this would be a good addition/start to a collection. Whatever information you can give me regarding the blade ie it's sharpness, strength and overall quality of the sword would be advantageous and most appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

*Note, I posted this same topic in the knife forum, but I was told I might get more of a response in here. Thanks. :)

I don't own one personally but all reports are that the Hanwei sword line is worth what you pay for them. You have to remember that you can't expect a custom katana when you order but at the same time you aren't exactly paying custom prices either.

I have one,

To me it´s great, it´s not a real nihonto but it is very beautiful and I used lots of times in the tameshigiri and it goes very nice. To buy I suggest you to E-mail this guy :

He is a very good person and you can discuss the price...
;)

I responded to this once, but just to inform everyone...

1500 AUD is 800+ USD. Quite a substantial amount more than what the Musashi sells for here.

Hi, Zero. Dunno much about the Hanwei stuff other than their sturdily build bardiche. I do know that Kris Cutlery has some very affordably priced swords, and I own a number of thir pieces. Not a complaint with them. Their fittings and furniture are pretty plain, but its good differentially tempered steel.
