LT has asked me to post these 3 composits. I increased the size to allow us to view them a little better. Having seen many of these up close and personal, I know you would not want to miss the display. I know I couldn't get my jaw inline for a few days after my visit.

LT will explain more:

Very well done LT, and thank you Larry for the brief tour. I noticed that there is a fair representation of both fixed and folders, several of which I have not seen before. I hope the local papers and TV will get behind this display and give it the publicity it deserves.

May I ask the contents of the letter displayed with the Wildlife Forever display?

Holy s**t, now that's a nice Schrade display.

There's even a Scrimshaw Schrade 51OT, the Delrin Handled 51OT was my very first Schrade, actually it was the first real knife I ever bought with my own money, I was 15 or 16 at the time, 1975-76 I can't even remember what I paid for it back then but to me it was a lot of money, also it was the first knife I was able to snap open by ficking my wrist.

Damn blade is so big and heavy it would flip open like some of todays liner locks.

BTW I still have the knife today, sadly all the flicking(tryin' to look cool) wore the pivot pin and the knife doesn't lock with any real authority.

Great lookin' display for sure.

Thankyou Larry. Heck fellers that is the stuff I wasen't afraid might get stolen the high end old stuff is still here. By the way that is only part of what is in the exhibit. Again I was forced to only go with the last 50 years or so when they were in Walden and I was forced to pick and choose from even that time frame. Those pics were for ins purposes I hope to have a video or at least some better shots later hopefully they are going to bring in the old timers ( the people who worked there ) for the official opening of the exhibit. The letter actually goes with the WWII set ( again the pics were only designed for ins purposes so they may be a bit mixed up.) It is a letter which came with the set sort of an introduction by the son of President Eisenhower actually the son is a general ( or was ) as well. It explains what the set was made to represent and why it was done the way it was. LT

What a great display! Can't imagine how much time alone was spent in assembling it.
I'll bet the insurance on it isn't cheap.
Have to get over to Ellenville on the next trip to my son's.

Obviously we need an applause icon because the  just isn't good enough!
Mind-boggling collection LT! I wish I could see it in person. If a person could take a video of your display and then described the knives displayed and transpose it to a CD or even a DVD, I'll bet there would be a market for it. I would buy a copy or two!
Living on the West Coast is difficult to just hop in the car and drive to Ellenville.
Thank you so much for sharing part of your collection with us. Your displays are wonderful. Obviously some of your displays are from the factory, but do you have plans for some of the other displays you made? I am to the point of needing to display some of my knives. I have too many to set down a look at in one setting, even some of my friends who are nice buffs get bored.:o
I need to display them so they can be enjoyed more easily.
Do you or anyone else on here have suggestions or plans to make display cases?

I am going to have to replace my keyboard now because I drooled on it so much it is shorting out.

Thanks again for sharing with us,
Dale

This is my first posting since joining this forum. Mostly I've been reading the informative threads.

Since learning of the exhibit at the Ellenville Library/Musuem, I decided it was a must see. Chose yesterday, as the day to intertwine a trip to the Castkill region with my girlfriend, with a detour to Ellenville to see the knives on display.

The collection is absolutely marvelous! Not only the knives, but the pictures of the old associated knife factories, advertisments, tang stamps, scale molds, etc. I have just started my own collection, as of early 2004 (Old Timer folders) to start with. I must confess I have become a total "Shradeaholic", and was in awe at the pieces you have collected through the years. Hope one day your entire collection will be placed on show for all to see.

Just looked at these pictures again. On the right side of the picture there is a display with an H-15 in the center. On the far left next to the 141 is a small knife I don't think I've ever seen.Anyone know what it is?Thanks,Toby

I really cannot tell from the picture. But then again, what you think is a 141 might well be a 140, 145, or 146.

I am glad you enjoyed it. It was a labor of joy. I am undecided what I am going to do with my collection. However I do appreciate your comments and support. LT

Hey LT, just a little sick humor, but I bet Smoky Mountain Knife Works would take the collection and NEVER< NEVER< EVER break it up or sell any of it. Just a thought because you know they'd keep their promise.

nice set up!!! WOW!!! gonna be like orvet, gonna have to have a new keyboard!!! great job!!! i appreciate u sharing that. i would love to be at a antique mall or flea market and see that set!!! yea right, i can dream huh?

If people enjoy it then perhapes it serves a purpose. As far as Smokey they are a business so it was to be expected. Especially when so much of what they sell is foreign and so are the companies they deal with who I am sure just chortle with glee when a bit of Americana comes tumbling down in the name of free enterprise. Frankly I am quite serious when I say that if I cannot establish a place where these items can be seen and enjoyed then I may very well liguidate they entire thing perhapes selling or simply destroying the whole kit and kaboodle. You really would not believe how prepared for either of those contingencys I am. Right now I am not sure what will happen.

Some of the folks here have expressed an interest in knife parts, catalogues brochures ect. I would venture to say that by tomorrow there may well be some of this stuff on ebay. I really ( being alone ) did not have the time or energy to fullfill each request individually.

Glenn I will try to post another dozen or two of Schrade Cuts when I get some free time. Once again thankyou all for the nice words and support. LT

Wow! Made my day. Thanks.

Good to see the greatness and memory of Schrade will live on.
