Exciting news has been received from the shop manager regarding the Museum model that you had asked for some history !!!!

The original was captured by general Amar Singh Thapa during the Palpa war in 1806 A.D. No books on this Khukuri have been published in Nepal. However, there is information from the museum that a book on Khukuri from Nepal and Knives from India has been published in India and shop manager is making every effort to locate that book. I thank the shop manager for all his efforts to get this information for us.

It would be great to get the name of the book and the ISBN if they manage to locate it.

Just looked through my notes from my last years visit to Kathamando museam & I think these were the kukri with the label name of Amar Singh Thapa next to them.

Youd enjoy a couple of days in that museam N2S ;)

Hundreds upon hundreds of 1650 to 1930 kukri & kora.

Interesting stuff and thanks.

Some khukuris are specialized for chopping wood or brush but the MM seems to have a call to battle about it.

Hoping people post more information on the subject.
