Since this has actual knife content along with general interest, I thought I'd post it here.

Today I was looking at my mother-in-law's Museum of Modern Art mail order catalog. I was surprised to find a Victorinox Champion Plus, along with learning that the original Champion is part of MOMA's permanent collection. Then I saw the Final Home Jacket, an interesting survival jacket. The most surprising offering, though, was the Subtle Safety Defensive Ring. I'm not sure if it's a practical defensive item or not, but it really surprised me that MOMA would include such a politically incorrect item in their catalog.

Here it is. They have an entire Architecture and Design exhibition: SAFE: Design Takes on Risk

A companion to the Museum's SAFE exhibition (10/16/05 - 1/2/06), this book documents the innovative objects that designers have created to answer people's needs for physical and psychological safety.

This is a really cool discovery. They also have one Randall and at least one target pistol as part of their design collection.

I wonder why the jacket is "one size fits all" which means "does not fit Paul." The neck is 11.75" which is about 6 inches too small for me.

I really like that ring though.

If you do a google search for "subtle safety defensive ring" you'll find lots of places that sell it, and in more sizes than are available from MOMA.

Thanks Scott. I'll have to look around. The price of gas has cut into my discretionary funds so it might be a while though. :grumpy:

Way before I got into knives big time, I bought an Opinel and red handled Balisong at the MOMA gift shop. This was around 1987 or so.
