Yes, the MRL photos look great. For wallhangers and "light" useage they seem to do just fine. IMHO, if you want a serious blade look elsewhere.

i know. too bad. i really like the design. im lookin for a biger than dagger but shorter than typical gladius. 12"-14" blade. styled just like a gladius but a tad shorter.

It's been a while since I had any Museum Replicas catalogs. After reading about windlass quality, I checked the catalog to see who made the Gladius (the infantry type) and saw no mention of the maker. On many MR products they say that they are by windlass. Does anyone know if another company makes the Gladiae from MR? I'm thinking of getting one from Kris Cutlry since I know their quality but I'm open to other sources.

good question. the gladius im talking about didnt have any information on the maker, dimensions etc...

The cup hilt on the gladiator model shown is not historically supported in any way that I have seen. There is no physical record of such a device in either blades found or in statuary/bas reliefs/tombstones.

As to the maker, if it is not listed in the ad as someone else, you can almost bet that it is Windlass, with all that that means.
