Museum Replica - pretty good or not?

One of my friend has a Museum Replica dagger that needs some work (blade is pitted). Could anyone tell me if it is a good brand, worthy of restauration, or if I should try to convince him to get something else?

Thanks,

Joss

No, that's not worth it. I just saw the blade and I recommend he not do anything. I was interested in the reputation of the brand - or lack thereof.

Some of their stuff looks pretty cool. I'm not really into fantasy stuff but I've wanted to get the two Drizzt swords.

They're certainly not real tools or anything I'd carry around, but they're a lot prettier than a lot of the junk on the knife show.

IIRC, they are a division of Atlanta Cutlery and most, if not all, of their blades are made in India. From those I have examined, your judgment is correct. They are for "show" not "go."

Beg pardon? I briefly worked at Musem Replicas and while the stuff is (blades at least) made in India it is good quality and will take a beating. It is not the same quality as custom work but nevertheless well made and sturdy.

The five examples I examined were all quite soft. While they would "take a beating," they would not hold an edge or point. Further, the fit and finish, while perhaps appropriate to the relatively modest prices for the items, was not impressive.

I suppose it is a matter of point-of-view.

I have never been employed by the company in question.
