Anyone know what the quality on Museum Replicas Limited's clothing is like? I know the swords must be mediocre at best. They wear that MADE IN INDIA badge like it's a thing to be proud of. How's the rest? Clothing, jewelry, etc.

Also, anyone know of another place to buy period clothing?

From what I hear some of their clothing type items are pretty good. I can't give you any other urls off the top of my head but a google search on Medieval clothing ought to find all kinds of stuff.

Bought a baldric on them that's pretty decent. Nothing to write home about but looks like it would hold up to years of use.

Be aware that most MRL clothing is made of cotton, either as a twill or some sort of flannel. While this may look nice and be a reasonably priced alternative for those who are not seeking true accuracy, you need to remember that cotton wa not commonly used in most historical eras that swordspeople are trying to recreate. The two types of material most commonly seen are linen and woolens of various types.

What Hugh says is very true.

For example, in my chosen re-enactment period (Thirty Years War) cotton was available, but since the only source of cotton was Egypt, it was a rather expensive cloth and not often worn by anyone less than well-to-do nobility. This of course, is not a problem if you're a member of the SCA as, to my understanding everyone in the SCA is supposed to be a noble of one sort or another. (no further disparaging remarks follow.) :D

If the above is not a concern for you, (Hey, I provenence my buttons, okay?) then MRL clothing is of pretty good quality and wears well from what I have seen. However, be advised that they size small so you will probably want to order a size or two larger than what you normally wear. If it's too large, all the better.

MRL also has an excellent return policy provided that your clothing has not been soiled or washed.
