As some of you know I have endeavered to save the history of the cutlery companies of NYS ie specific Hudson Valley, for most of my life. Also you may or may not be aware of my feeling towards the automatic knife laws and everything about them. I am not going to rehash all that in this prologue. Instead I am attaching an article from a periodical which I write for. The attached link will take you to the article in this months copy of the AKA newsletter in which I have written an account of what has transpired after almost 2 years of honest attempt to get some straight answers, it is almost a last resort to get a response . Hard copies of the original magazine ( Just out ) are being sent to the Governor, Attn Gen, legislators, ect. This link will be posted on the internet, in Bladeforums under the Schrade forum. If anyone has a question or just an opinion, my email address is lt632ret@frontier.net The following is the link to the article. Museum Road to Bureaucracy, U.S.A. http://members.aol.com/akaswitchblades/langston_article.html

Please feel free to forward this link to anyone you might feel could help or might have an interest. Thankyou Rich PS Here is another link in case the first one does not work ( computers are not my forte ) http://home.comcast.net/~lrvickery1/Langston/Road_to.htm

LT PS If you decide to read this you might want to get a snack and a cold beverage. This is the culmination of 2 years of bull and I am fairly long winded to begin with. ( understatment of the year ) In fact perhapes a blanket and pillow might be in order.

LT,
I know this is of no consolation to you or your efforts, and for that I'm sure sorry.....but that was a great, heartfelt piece of writing.

I wish you were doing it in Arizona....it would probably be appreciated here.

Bill

I also am not really surprised. I tried to find the answer to a question about the circumstances under which buckshot could be lawfully used here in Tennessee while deer hunting. It is an exemption to a law. Or rather a regulation. And Officialdom cannot bring theirselves to address it in a straightforward manner without injecting demonization, obfuscation, personal prejudice, etc. etc.

I did enjoy reading your explanation of the chronology of the battle. I think your insight into the stumbling blocks is right on the money. Somehow, I cannot see you giving up though.

Yup wolfer that article was one pain in the butt about as confusing to write (and probably read ) as I ever got involved with and I wrote up some rather unusual situations during my years with the D.O,C,S. This should be my final nail in Albany they always loved me. They always had another agenda, mine was logic, reason, empathy and what is right and wrong. Albany always would tell me that none of my opinions would be considered until at least one item of my agenda was changed. ( looks like there attitude is the same now) As far as continuing to fight ( for Codger) I want to be the guy who when finally about to cash in, calls his worst enemy over to the bed smacks him on the forehead and says last tag before he dies.

Funny you mention it I have considered moving to Arizona. Bullhead city always seemed interesting plenty of water to fish or boat. Plenty of action in Laughlin just a short walk over a small bridge and into Nevada. No snow to shovel and If I want some there are the mountains a couple of hours away. Might be a good place to sell knives. Especially since N.Y.S does not seem to have an interest. Might be a good spot to sell Canal Street Cutlery. Right now I feel like I have run out my string here so who knows. I would buy a jeep and mount a 30 cal on the back I just always wanted one it would be great when going to the VFW for a beer. I wonder how realestate is in Bullhead city. Keep me in mind should you hear of anything I might be interested in. LT

Lt,
I hate to burst you bubble but I got a call from my dad tonight saying he had snow in Kingman, AZ which is about 20 miles from Bullhead. Also switches are legal to buy and sell in AZ.
;)

I know Kingman and it has been on my mind I guess I will just have to see. Hopefully, I still have time for a few hands yet. You know my three favorite words Deal me in. LT

Bureaucracy ? The Catskill Mtns [Sullivan ,Ulster, Delaware counties ] are an economic disaster .An bureaucracy has to take a big part of the blame .The governor wants casinos , indian run. So far there is nothing .It's become a farce . The people don't want casinos they want other viable businesses .But the state wants to strangle business through delay , regulation, taxation. ...Your experience with the museum is just one more example !!

wow, what nonsense!!! Soory to hear all that.

You know what though? german history books do leave the the attrocities out!!! Pretty sad.

Rich,

I read the whole story with great frustration. Makes me sick that people are afraid to make a decision and stand behind it anymore.

America is becoming so PC and sheeple; "OOOh, don't want offend anyone or exclude anybody!"

I remember at Christmas (thats right, christmas, not "happy holidays", "holiday season", "winter festival", or some other watered-down PC robotic non-secular term), we had huge wooden soldiers in the town common. People were actually trying to get their rifles removed and replaced with candy canes or something. Yeah, maybe if they were GAY wooden soldiers! (not that there's anything wrong with that :D )

If stuff like this keeps up, history will be ancient history, and nobody will remember it.

I'm just glad that there are people like you, Rich, and the rest of us that have some traditional values left and don't follow along like the rest of the cattle.

(Me getting off my soapbox)

What has happened since the article is even funnier. Just incredible. It is amazing. UNCARING UNKNOWING UNFEELING . What idiots. If you ever decide or have the chance become a student, chose human behavior and human nature as your topic of study. It is unique as a field of learning, in that is always the same yet never becomes boring, it is unlike the sciences that we correct our opinions and learn from. It this case the mistakes and actions are never corrected . Mostly I have gotten no response however that has been better than the one response I did get. No big deal there are many more important topics like hundreds of people going to NYC to protest the moving of one hawk from an apartment hi rise nest. Don't misunderstand me I like Hawks I have a bunch of them fly over my house every day and I enjoy them. This is used only as an example. When it comes to certain subjects it seems there is not as much zeal. To me this segment of 200 years of history is just as important as that hawk. However my opinions are not in vogue and my my attitude is not conducive to accomplishing the task. You see I will not agree with everyone, promise anything and then when in a position of power do what ever want. I am what is called a failure, if I were a success they would call me a politician.
